FirstBarkDave is a 100% straight shooter. Last December Dave drove from Harrison to Gaylord to give me a hand tracking a cow Elk. The animal was just grazed but the tracking was exceptional. I can only say if your animal is down Dave and his blood hound will find it.

Last Fall, 10/18/25 I arrowed a doe and the crossbow bolt hit on the low side. I lost the blood trail that evening, but according to the sign I was fairly sure the doe could be recovered. I contacted Dave and he came out with his Blood Hound (Cheri). She was able to pick up the trail after my last blood and the deer was recovered within a short distance later. The dog did a fantastic job, and Dave is the kind of guy that anyone would be happy to call a friend and/or hunting partner. Overall, a great experience that resulted in a freezer of fine venison! I have been bow hunting for over 40 years and rarely have any problems recovering a deer after I release an arrow. Sometimes stuff just happens. When it does, and you need help, a tracking dog is worth every penny spent just for the peace of mind and closure it can provide!

I shot a buck on black Friday evening 2024 and didn't find any blood/hair or the buck when I searched. I made the decision to back out and reach out to some local trackers to setup a track for the next morning. Dave Gates and his bloodhound Cheri were able to come out and after I led them in the total wrong direction (based on where I thought the buck went) we went back into the thick area where the buck originally came from prior to the shot. Cheri eventually locked on and soon we found small drops of blood, then a bed w/ lots of blood and then another 10 yds after that was my buck! It ended up being a liver entrance/gut exit shot which matched the body language of the deer when he was hit and what Dave had surmised the night before when I gave him the shot details. It was amazing seeing the hound work and I'm 100% confident I would have never found this buck without their help. Dave asked all of the right questions to get the proper details of the shot and his dog did an excellent job sticking to their process even after I originally led them astray. If you ever need assistance finding a wounded deer, I recommend Dave Gates and his hounds. They are true professionals and great at what they do!
