Indy’s Top Dog

I can't thank Brandon and his team enough! I can walk Stella without worrying about how she's going to react if we see people or another animal. She listens to me when I give her a command and she stays in place! Staying in place is huge, I can workout without worrying about her getting under my feet or in my face lol! She no longer jumps on people when they walk in the house. Plus, I think she is a happier dog! I know I'm a happier dog owner! Definitely worth it!

Originally contacted the owner for behavioral modification for my 100-pound American Bully. He was very friendly and gung-ho on me doing the board and train and getting it booked immediately, even though that gave me a lot of anxiety. I scheduled and paid for an appointment with him to access the situation with my dog because I wanted my dog to get to know him before just leaving my dog with a man that I don't know and my dog is not familiar with. He offered to do this consult for free and I said absolutely not, I want to pay you for your time. I did let him know a day and a half in advance of this appointment that my child and i got covid and would not be attending the appointment and would need to reschedule, out of respect for this man and his family. My dog was on 2 behavioral health medications, and we (the owner, vet, and i) agreed to start lowering his doses to get him back to his baseline before training, which wasn't going to happen overnight. He also told me that my dog was overweight before actually meeting him, and we needed to start feeding my dog less than he was eating because he said he would have less food while doing his board and train. We also had a pitbull foster at the time who was very dog aggressive with my dog. I notified him of this situation and that I was trying to get the smaller pitbull into a new home or foster before I started really working on my own dog. He agreed that was a good idea. Due to overcrowding at the shelter and all the area rescues it took me almost 3 months to get her into a new rescue that would better meet her needs. I texted this man the SAME DAY that i got the foster into a new home. I was met with annoyance and was made to feel like i was an inconvenience. That left me feeling very confused because we had all agreed together to let my dog ween off of his mental health medications and for me to find a new foster home for the foster that i had. There would be no point in paying 3k trying to correct a behavioral issue with my dog, if I'm throwing him right back in to a hostile environment the second he gets home. I can't control the stray dog population, when rescues or shelters have availability to take in a foster dog, or the rate a vet wants to bring a dog off of mental health medications. This man had almost a completely open schedule this month when i texted him wanting to FINALLY get my dog in to see him, which i was SO excited for. I picked an appointment time and reminded him i had already paid and this man acted like i had several no call no shows or did something awful and like i was asking for a favor or a hand out to take the session i had already paid for. Also, another thing to note. He told me he keeps his board and trains at his own home, so if he has open availability throughout the week during the day, makes me wonder how much time he's actually spending with these dogs during the board and train which he claims is the only thing that really works for dogs with issues, rather than specialized individual training. I do wish this man the best, but his idea of doing business probably isn't the smartest if you want to make 3k plus, per person, per dog. I wish i was met with a little patience and understanding especially since everything that was hindering him starting this training was communicated in depth via text and phone calls.

Our two adopted Bernedoodles went to Indy’s Top Dog- All Breed Obedience Training for board and train. We were hoping to give them the skills they needed to thrive. At over 100 pounds each, we knew it was important for both their safety and ours that we could confidently have control while still letting them be the loving, goofy dogs they are. After a 3 week board & train, we are beyond amazed at the transformation! Their obedience, focus, and manners have improved so much, and we’re excited to continue reinforcing everything they’ve learned at home. Watching them become calmer, more responsive, and better companions has been incredibly rewarding. We’re so grateful for the patience, dedication, and expertise of their trainers, Brandon and Oliver. Adopting these two big, lovable pups has been one of the best decisions we’ve made, and giving them this training has made life even more enjoyable for all of us. We couldn’t be prouder of our sweet 100-pound babies and all the hard work they’ve put in. ❤️🐾
