Innovative K9 Academy

Jake did an amazing job training our German shepherd during her 18 day program with Innovative K9. He loved on her while giving her the training she needed and I was glad they got paired up together. Our dog has come home with so much obedience and has calmed her anxiety and helped her reactivity so drastically. She seems so much happier and content with this new structure and schedule and are so grateful to have her in this place now that she can enjoy her life and we can enjoy ours with her! I sent my 6-month-old puppy to Innovative K9 Academy for a 3-week board and train and paid $3,800. I was clear from the beginning that I wanted them to work on jumping, playful biting and barking. Heeling on walks was not an issue. The facility itself seemed respectable, and the trainer did a good job sending updated videos of my dog and what they were working on. That part of the communication was solid. When he came home, though, the only real change I could see was that he would heel on a walk. Barking, jumping, and mouthing were just as bad as when I dropped him off. For the specific problems I paid them to fix, it felt like nothing had transferred. They also said I would be invited to Saturday group sessions at parks around the city after training. I never received an invite or follow-up about those classes. After he came home I messaged them, thanked them for the work they did, and told them he was still jumping, barking, and play-biting the same as before. They asked me to bring him back the following Tuesday. I live in North Salt Lake and the drive is about an hour and a half south, so that wasn’t possible. After I said I couldn’t make that day, they never texted back. I appreciate the videos and that the place didn’t feel sketchy. The results on the behaviors I actually hired them for, and the lack of follow-through after pickup, did not match the $3,800 or what was promised. I would not use them again based on this experience.
