Instinct Dog Behavior & Training Portland

Our family worked with Kaysha Rogers-Schuler. We signed up our 16 week old dog Darcy up for in-home puppy camp. She targeted a variety of early puppy behaviors including puppy biting, husbandry, leash walking, and basic commands. Kaysha did an excellent job documenting all of his progress through videos and written correspondence. She also provided helpful tips to reference after he came home. She communicated clearly with our family and was extremely knowledgeable. We are so grateful for her help and can’t wait to attend her other obedience classes in the next few weeks! I highly recommend Instinct to anyone in the Portland area!

Instinct Dog Training had my dog in their care from 7/28/2024-8/7/2024. They promised a high quality environment to teach my dog basic skills. Instead, he was sent home early for showing signs of stress. Upon picking him up, it was revealed to me that his ‘low level’ of stress was quite high. Since he has returned home, he is showing obvious signs of stress. He has no interest in food, he’s wary of his own backyard, he refuses to be alone in the home and instead follows us everywhere. His voice is hoarse which tells me he spent a large amount of time barking or crying. This isn’t like him. I asked their team multiple times to let me know if his behavior was concerning. The care team updates insinuated that he was doing great, however if I had known how much stress he continued to show I would have picked him up when they notified me on 8/4. My dog has been boarded happily countless times over the years. I trusted your company to take care of my pet, as well as offer the services I was promised with my investment. Neither of these expectations were met. I’m so unhappy with this company that I reported them to the Better Business Bureau, but the company never responded. They do not care about their customers.

We can’t begin to thank Emily, Taylor, and the rest of the Instinct Portland team for their help with Brandy and navigating our life with her. She’s a rescue with extreme fear aggression and reactivity. They helped us navigate some serious issues and were always there when we had questions. They spent so much time navigating her struggles and guiding us. I don’t think we could have made it without Emily and Taylor. Their compassion is evident and we can’t express how much we appreciate them. We may be nearing the end of our journey with them but they have become like family and will always have a special place with us because they were there in some dark times and continued to encourage us and kept us hopeful.
