Island Dog Obedience

We had a great experience with Island Dog Obedience board and train program. We left our 6 month old golden doodle with them for a couple weeks. He went from zero training to obediently walking off leash. Like any short term training program it’s not a once and done program, but they establish a great foundation for you to continue finessing all the commands. It has worked out great for us and easy enough that our 10yr old son does most the refresher training at home with no issues.

Our 7 month old golden doodle, Miso, desperately needed training. She pulled incessantly on walks and would jump on people who came to the house. We reached out to Island Dog Obedience and got a response right away. We opted to do an in-home consultation and lessons. Our trainer, Raya, did the first visit with us in our house and then we met with her at a nearby park for the rest of the lessons. Miso listens well when there are no distractions, but with people and other dogs, it is a whole different story. It was helpful to be able to do the lessons in places where there were ample distractions. Raya gave us homework to do in between each lesson and would also bring other dogs to the lesson so Miso could practice meeting other dogs politely and to concentrate on our commands even when there are other dogs nearby. We're so happy with the results. Miso is a whole new dog on walks! Raya was patient and understanding and worked with me, my husband, and my son. Our last lesson was a hike and it was so much fun! Our dog Lulu had an amazing experience. We also appreciated the great communication and updates we received during the board and train program. During her stay, lulu got training at the beach, hiking, at a farmers market, a store, and with numerous other dogs for socialization. I can tell that she had a very tailored and personalized training regimen and we are so grateful for the genuine and thoughtful experience for our pup.

I took Ollie in because he had behavioral issues. He didnt know how to walk on a leash, he would lunge at kids, people, and other animals. Ollie also has a ball obsession so if someone threw a ball he wouldn’t listen, he won’t eat, drink water, or sleep if a ball is out. I decided to board him because I know he deserves to be able to go to the beach, hikes, and other outdoor activities without freaking out. This has been the best experience. My husband and I have looked into EVERY company on island until we narrowed it down and finally chose island dog obedience. Boarding your dog is very scary because what if something happens to them? Well Raya updated me every single day and sent the cutest pictures of Ollie to ease my anxiety. After the two weeks I finally got to see him and she walked me through how to use the e collar while training. She was so informative and reassuring. Even after this whole process she’s still reaches out to make sure he’s doing well and asks if I have any questions or concerns. I am now looking into classes for my younger pup because of this amazing experience. Thank you Raya!!!
