We went thru Puppy School two years ago, and were satisfied with the service, so we were comfortable boarding with this kennel. They required verification of immunizations. Our dog stayed for 5 nights. When we picked him up, we received no written summary of his stay and the only verbal information we could get was that "he did fine". We brought him home late afternoon, and he was subdued. By night, he was coughing frequently. By morning, Rocket was refusing food and his cough was worse. I called the kennel and was told there was another dog recently discharged with a cough and that Rocket had been coughing some at the kennel. I spoke with our veterinarian and he perscribed antibiotics. The next day was July 4th. By the 5th, x-rays showed pneumonia, and Rocket was admitted to UF Small Animal Hospital. He is now home, and slowly recovering from kennel cough infection and pneumonia. I understand that even the very best kennels can have kennel cough. I do not understand why I was not told my dog had been coughing and that a dog discharged the day before had kennel cough. Their lack of interest is demonstrated by the fact they made no effort to contact me for follow up even though I told them Rocket was sick the day after his discharge. They did return my call today and I explained to them why I was posting a review.
