We had an incredible experience working with Jamie as our dog trainer! From day one, she made us feel supported and empowered in learning how to train our energetic Australian Shepherd. Jamie has a calm, patient, and knowledgeable approach that immediately put both us and our pup at ease. She didn’t just teach commands—she helped us truly understand our dog’s behavior and how to communicate with him more effectively. Jamie explained why certain behaviors happen and guided us through the proper techniques to encourage good habits while gently correcting unwanted ones. Thanks to her, we feel much more confident in our ability to guide our dog, and we've seen huge improvements in his focus, obedience, and overall behavior. It's clear Jamie genuinely cares about dogs and their families, and we're so grateful for everything she taught us. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer who goes above and beyond!

I adopted a golden retriever puppy in July 2023. Although Franklin would be the first dog I’d owned, I’d grown up with golden retrievers, so I thought I knew what I was doing. Wrong! I quickly began to feel overwhelmed and realized I was close to clueless when it came to knowing how to manage his presence in my home. His antics frequently mystified me and I constantly felt like I was doing something wrong. I thought I was a bad dog mom. I cried frequently. We signed up for group puppy classes at a pet supply store, which helped a little bit, but still didn’t provide me with the knowledge and training tools specific to Frankie’s needs. I continued to read books and scour the internet for info, and we stumbled along, but by late 2024 it was apparent that we still needed help. We had a consultation with a company that wanted to slap an e-collar on Frankie, and I was almost desperate enough to do it, but my conscience kept telling me that there had to be a gentler way. After all, I was the human that brought a baby dog into my house! I felt that I owed it to Frank to see if this “positive reinforcement” training I’d read about could actually be effective (which, tbh, I doubted). I returned to the internet and this time, I found Jamie, and I will forever be grateful that I did. She came to my house and, over a series of appointments, showed me how to modify Franklin’s behavior using nothing but tasty treats! It was nothing short of amazing to watch him enthusiastically and happily respond to Jamie’s instructions. He learned so quickly! My jaw literally dropped over and over. I again felt like I could cry, but this time because I was so hopeful, relieved, and encouraged. I’d read about many of the concepts and techniques that Jamie employed, but seeing them in action was invaluable. She really put the pieces together for me in an actionable, practicable way. At the conclusion of each training session, Jamie gave me a sheet summarizing what we’d worked on and giving me and Franklin “homework” for next time. Having the information written down, with specific instructions for which behaviors to practice and how to practice them, was very helpful to me. When Jamie arrived for our first appointment, she was wearing a sweatshirt that said “teaching humans how to speak dog.” I think that phase summarizes our experience very well. I just needed to learn how to communicate with Franklin, and he responded beautifully. He’s still a young dog, of course, and still capable of zany behavior, but now I feel like I have a set of tools I can use to manage him so that we can live together harmoniously. And the ultimate “win” is that I get to feed Franklin bits of chicken and cheese in return for the behaviors I want. I enjoy this approach much more than giving him a “correction” as punishment for misbehavior, and I’m sure he does, too. Franklin will turn two in May, and with Jamie’s help, he’s becoming a sweet, gentle dog whom I enjoy hanging out with. TL;DR: If you’re struggling with your dog’s behavior, do yourself a favor and call Jamie. She speaks “dog” and can teach you to speak “dog” too! I’m very pleased with her services and I wish I’d found her sooner.

I can’t thank Jamie enough. I work on the health side of animals and when my zynny was showing signs of compulsive light chasing I was at a loss of words. My baby was never able to relax. With the help of Jamie training me to help my poor zynny, she did a complete 180. Knowing Jamie has to continually learn about behavior to keep her certification (like I have to) help assure me that I was getting the best up-to-date behavioral help. Zynny has continued with her training and is finally able to relax at home without any sedation medication. I would refer her to any client that comes into the animal clinic I work for. She’s the ultimate dog whisper.
