JPK9 was exactly what we needed to help us with our pandemic puppy, Odin. Odin had become increasingly stressed and reactive inside and outside of our home. We had done some basic training with him as a puppy but did not have clear or consistent rules. This approach was okay for our older dog but proved disastrous for Odin’s temperament. He was aggressive toward family members and reactive to every moving thing on walks in the neighborhood. We needed help. Juan impressed us with his ability to gain the dog’s respect, to assess training needs and see what may be going wrong in our scenario right away. Juan has a calm, confident demeanor with dog handling and teaching. We went with his Board and Train boot camp option as a reset for Odin to break habits. Juan was confident enough to include our dog in his household and even took him to parks, busy shopping areas and on family outings. His methods were practical, effective and efficient so the change in Odin’s behavior was dramatic. He also gave tips to manage Odin’s tendencies and the transition back to home. We’d highly recommend Juan for any dog training needs.

I adopted a dog from the shelter who had a pretty bad start at life. He really needs a lot of training to help him get beyond his past. I saw Juan on TV and immediately knew that I wanted him to be the one to work with my dog. When I met Juan for the first time he was compassionate to the past of the dog but also very helpful in making me understand that I was going to need to be strong with my lead to getting him past his previous experiences. We are not at the end of the work needing to be done, but with every training session I see a big difference in my dogs behavior. Juan has also been very helpful in helping me to step up and learn my part in helping the dog by being strong enough to be the pack leader. I really appreciate everything he has been doing to get the dog and me to the point we are at. I am excited to continue to work with him as I am asking him to take my dog from a very nervous, unsure of himself, scared teenager to a very secure, service dog. I have faith if I can manage my part in this and follow through with the training he is giving me we will certainly reach the goal. I will be writing other reviews as we go, in the meantime I hope you will give this 5 star trainer the opportunity to work with you and your dog to reach your goals.

Less than a year ago, I would’ve never believed that my 6 year old German shepherd could behave in public, not bark like a maniac at other dogs/people, or not drag us down the street during walks. After Juan came into our lives, Riley has turned into a completely different dog. We’ve looked into other training facilities that 1. Was over priced, 2. Told us our dog is “too old”, or 3. Didn’t take the time to teach US how to handle our dog. When Juan met Riley, he was confident that our girl could be trained and his prices were fair and reasonable. He is highly knowledgeable and experienced (he competes with his own Malinois, Echo). We like his approach of teaching dog owners to become dog handlers and the rest will fall in place. We went with the private classes and eventually he encouraged us to attend the group seasons. Long story short, Riley now lives a much more fulfilling life - we take her out for hikes, to the farmers market, to dog friendly restaurants and she will stay by our side and behave. She actually listens to us now! Her reactivity towards dogs has improved tremendously and she is now equipped with the confidence and skills to handle situations that would’ve been overly stimulating or stressful before. The weekly group classes are also an awesome opportunity for the dogs gain exposure to other dogs in a controlled environment. Moving forward, we want to work on off-leash training and further distance recall at Juan’s new property! Thank you Juan and Sarah for sharing your passion for dog training with us. They have truly changed our lives and we trust them so much that we’ve referred many of our friends their way - and they all have nothing but positive things to say as well.
