K-10 Academy Dog Training

We adopted our Great Pyr/Husky/German Shepherd girl from Oregon Dog Rescue and were referred to Ray and Alyda for personal dog training. In each session, Ray helped us understand the nuances of Mija's reactive behavior and gave us the tools we needed to support her with positive reinforcement. We learned to provide Mija with clear direction and boundaries, so that she feels safe in her new forever home. After eight weeks of training, Mija is walking with more confidence, enjoying long lead work in the open park, and even had a blast at our local dog park, where she interacted with other dogs without reactivity. None of this was possible before working with Ray and K-10 Academy.

The amount of time, effort, and genuine care Ray has put into helping us with our 80-pound shepherd mix (who was dealing with some reactivity and aggression) has been amazing. He didn’t just give us a generic plan, he built something specifically for our dog and worked with us one on one to make sure we actually understood it. He even did in-person sessions with me and my wife, and was always flexible with scheduling, which made things a lot easier on us. You can tell Ray really takes this seriously. He cares about the dogs he works with and wants them to succeed, not just in training, but in their home long-term. It never felt like a one-size-fits-all approach, he really focused on what our dog needed. Honestly, I don’t think you’ll find another trainer in Portland who puts in this kind of effort. Really glad we found him.

We met Ray 5 years ago, when he started training me to be the pack leader with my first shepherd. It was a fantastic experience, my dog still sees Ray and acts like an excited puppy! Ray's best work has been with my son, teaching him how to be a confident dog handler. Now 4 dogs later. We still seek his advice and quite calm manner. I recommend him to all my friends and those in need of a trainer who uses kindness, control and love!
