Keep it Simple Stupid (K.I.S.S.) Dog Training provides private, positive reinforcement-based dog training in clients’ homes throughout the Kansas City metro. Owner and sole trainer Mike Deathe, CPDT-KA, has trained professionally since 2008 and founded K.I.S.S. Dog Training in 2010 with the mission “Training Owners, Not Dogs.” Mike helps owners address puppy behavior, manners, leash walking, reactivity, fear, anxiety, aggression and other behavioral concerns where they actually occur. K.I.S.S. does not use prong collars, choke chains or electronic shock collars. Pricing, policies, methods, expectations and the training process are clearly explained so clients can make an informed decision before moving forward.

KISS Dog Training has been a life-saver for our family - Mike has the experience to evaluate what's going on and help you figure out the best solutions to any dog issues in your household. Nothing is fixed overnight, but the pre-KISS/post-KISS difference in our house is night and day. We were referred to KISS after adopting a seemingly well-adjusted puppy that turned out to have been neglected and through following Mike's recommendations, she's turned out to be an incredible dog. We've gone through both at-home training as well as KISS group classes at Great Plains SPCA and I would strongly recommend both. Mike's instructions have revolutionized the way that we deal with our dogs - he says he trains owners and not dogs and it works! Any training takes effort and repetition on the owners' part, but Mike lays out the steps so that they're easy to follow and each step builds on what was previously learned. He also offers helpful YouTube videos to refresh your memory on training tips between sessions/classes that were invaluable in us going, "now what exactly did he say about this?" My biggest regret is that we didn't go to Mike sooner - we waited until we were exasperated and could have saved ourselves weeks of frustration. The first call we made with our next dog was to get him into classes with Mike!
It’s like love and logic for dogs. His methods are kind and loving towards your dog. I learned how to get the right behavior in positive and respectful ways. Now people say all the time “you have such a sweet dog”. It’s a lot of work, but just like with raising kids, the right way is hard; but the pay off is big.
Took his class called “Babies don’t bark” and holy awesome and informative! Mike is an excellent teacher. The class was three hours long and I was super surprised when it was over because we were all so engaged with him presenting! I would highly recommend his classes!
Mike has extensive knowledge, a charming personality, and loves his work. He carefully explains the "why" and not just giving you the "what". I highly recommended him for big or small needs.
