K9 Advisors Dog Training

I worked with Ruben and he was fantastic. He was easy to talk to, and made it very easy to understand what he was trying to teach me as well as teach my dog. He was also super friendly which to me is very important when someone comes into your home. I also liked that when questions came up he always answered his phone to give me the answers. I talked to several dog trainers before I decided to work with K-9 advisers and I do not regret the decision one bit. I also went through a death in my family during the process and they worked with my schedule when spare time was something I did not have a lot of. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for dog training.

Ruben quickly established a very good working relationship with our dog and multiple family members. He identified the goals that would most benefit our family, and then using his expertise, carefully delineated the behaviors that we should work on, even giving us several options for each goal. He taught us to be able to train our dog independently, using humane and effective techniques. Ruben was a pleasure to work with, and our dog shows marked improvement after only a few sessions.

Edel is an excellent and knowledgeable trainer that goes beyond the quick fixes and bandaids other trainers sometimes offer. We had met with 2 trainers before him, and while they were fine, they offered unreasonable solutions (e.g telling us our dog needed an hour and a half of exercise per day, when he actually does perfectly fine with 20 mins now) . He was definitely our best investment of 2020 and offered ways to let our dog fit into our lifestyle rather than building our lifestyle around our dog. He is also really kind, understanding and nonjudgmental, and went above and beyond with communication outside the session, including allowing us to send him videos of our progress and offering tweaks. You can tell he really cares about your dogs and your progress, and this isn’t just a job for him. He changed our entire relationship and way we interacted with our dog, helping us to be leaders so he could be more calm and secure. This laid the foundation for dealing with the bigger behavioural problems. Things that had been troubling us for months and taking a giant mental load (e.g. tearing up our couch), Edel helped us to remedy quite easily. Certain things take longer (e.g. separation anxiety) but Edel was very upfront about that and we have gotten to an amazing place with these issues. Friends have commented that he is a totally different dog than when they last saw him. Over a 6-8 sessions, we increased time our dog could spend alone from 0 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes; MASSIVELY reduced pretty severe leash reactivity to the point where it is no longer a problem; eliminated destructive behaviors in the home; eliminated stealing food off the table; having him come to us rather than running away; eliminated possessive behavior over bones with the other dog in our home; reduced "velcro dog" behavior. He's much less shy with new people and other dogs, and less reactive to new people coming into the home. He is also really in tune with me and my husband, and is FAR more obedient. All trainers are not created equal. Training your dog is a big investment, and you want to make sure you are doing that with the right person, with whom you're going to see results, and long-term results. We were choosing between different trainers, and I am so incredibly grateful we went with Edel. I can’t recommend him enough. If you’re considering booking Edel, DO IT!!! You won’t regret it! Your peace of mind is priceless.

I first contacted Joelle in September for behavioral modification training. She was informative and took her time to understand all of the issues I was experiencing with my pup. For financial reasons, I went with a different company and despite knowing this, Joelle offered herself as a resource for any questions or assistance. Fast forward to January and lets just say obedience classes flopped and my dogs behavioral issues got worse. I called Joelle back, we spoke about the latest developments with my pups behavior and got on the schedule. Hands down, this was the best decision I could've made and I'm beating myself up for not making it sooner. Adam is the holy grail of trainers. Point blank period. After just a few minutes with my pup, Adam whipped him right into shape (not literally though, he loves dogs). He took his time with our session, explained the why's behind my pups behaviors and showed us many different exercises to incorporate on a daily basis to nip these behaviors in the bud. Adam is so thorough and even took time after the session to write up exactly what we went over, what he suggests and the homework for us to start. My pup is showing such promise in permanent behavior changes and I simply cannot wait for our next session. For the first time since September, my house feels a little more peaceful and we're finally starting to love on our pup. I am beyond thankful.
