My husband and I could not be happier with the training our Leo got at K9 Basics. We did the board and train program. He was a good dog when we rescued him but he was extremely difficult to walk. He’s so strong. If he saw a squirrel or someone on a bike or scooter, he would lunge so hard. After his training, we can now walk him with no issues. He listens so well to us when we tell him to come, sit, off or place! His trainer Andrew was amazing! The training facility was so clean and we loved how they would post photos on their Facebook page. We cannot wait for the weather to cooperate so we can go back and visit and Leo can play with the friends he made at K9. It was a great investment for us and for Leo! We can now enjoy him at his full potential!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Vanessa! From the very first session, I could tell they truly care about both the dogs and their owners. Their approach to training is patient, positive, and incredibly effective. Before we started, my dog had a few issues with pulling on the leash, jumping on guests, and not always listening when distractions were around. Within just a few weeks, I saw such a huge improvement. Now, walks are peaceful, visitors are greeted politely, and commands are followed with confidence and excitement. It’s been amazing to watch my dog grow more focused and well-mannered — all while keeping that playful personality I love so much.

I first heard about K9 basics over a simple “best board and training” google search. I initially was hesitant over the idea of leaving my dog with strangers and the potential price point. My plan for Athena was to find a place to cement our years worth of training we did together since I got her at 10 weeks old and to build confidence around other dogs. Athena was the first German Shepherd and dog I have ever raised and this was a huge learning process for us. My biggest mistake raising her was that I didn’t socialize her enough due to my own anxiety to which she developed selective dog reactivity and some anxiety of unfamiliar situations as a result of it. From the moment I walked into the office I have felt safe, welcomed, and overjoyed being met with friendly, professional staff in addition to Wally and Major who are some of the staff’s training dogs who were SO CUTE and were massive help to Athena’s progress. Staff and trainers were exceptional, it was obvious they were very experienced in their work and knew their stuff which gave me a lot of comfort leaving Athena in their hands. The board and training program is definitely not cheap, however compared to most boarding programs generally, the price is more affordable. Additionally, it didn’t feel like a chore or a bill I was paying for, but instead an investment into my dog which is really important to me. What ultimately sold me what that included in the board and training program, you get a free private at home lesson with a trainer in addition to FREE TRAINING CLASSES FOR YOUR DOGS LIFE! If the board and training program is out of budget, there are other programs they offer that best suits you and your dog’s needs which to me is another major plus for many families in different financial groups. As I was leaving after dropping her off, the trainer immediately started work on Athena without wasting a moment which said to me right there I made the right decision. It was another showing that these people take their work very seriously and waste no time doing what they do best and that is providing high quality training to dogs. I missed her so much and it was a long three weeks but I knew she was in the right hands. With every update I received //you need to call and ask for them// , pictures and video posted on facebook, I was able to tell how much fun Athena had and I became admittedly emotional seeing her playing with a group of dogs which she has never done before. From day one, she excelled in her training and even learned new tricks that I’m beyond exited to work on with her. The education collar is provided to you at the end of the program during pick up day and they teach you in depth how to use it correctly. The collar is easy to use //and im someone who is tech dumb// as there is only three buttons and the technology only uses vibrations so there is no shock or pain to the dog //I used it on myself and it feels like a tens unit// . I initially was very hesitant using this tool as it was intimidating but learned quickly how easy it is to use and how effective it is while debunking my fears and assumptions about education collars. K9 basics is without a doubt, the best investment I have ever made into Athena and I will not hesitate to continue to use their services infinitely. Thank you all so much for the amazing work you did and for taking such good care of Athena and every other dog you guys take in.

I can’t say enough incredible things about K9 Basics! It is truly the best investment I have ever made. My pup is my best friend, but he has a lot of behavioral challenges. I’ve tried to work on them for years, but we started hitting more unacceptable setbacks when it came to reactivity and fearful aggression. K9 Basics has changed our lives. We’ve been to a LOT of dog training and/or agility facilities and I have never experienced such a non-judgmental environment from both the staff and fellow students. They helped me muzzle train Dash and it’s given us the security to try new challenges. I can communicate better than ever with my guy and, while we have a ways to go, I know it is achievable with the continuing classes that they offer (for free!!!). Even neighbors have commented on Dasher’s improvement. I consulted multiple day training facilities and K9 Basics does it different. They will hold you and your dog accountable to reaching your highest potential. They don’t just tell people what they want to hear. My time thus far at the school has been invaluable. It is an excellent school with beyond intelligent staff. Thank you K9 Basics, and to anyone debating it- do it, do it, do it.
