K9 Control Training

Life changing. Our dog Obie is a 3-year-old Boxer German Shepherd mix rescue, and for the two and a half years we’ve had him we really struggled. He had separation anxiety, barrier aggression, reactivity, constant urinating in the house, excessive barking, general anxiety, and just didn’t listen. There were no clear boundaries, and we didn’t have a good way to communicate with him or guide him. After our first evaluation with K9 Control we felt pretty dumb. We thought we were doing all the right things. We did basic obedience classes, took him to dog parks and doggie day camp, and went on 3+ mile walks to try to wear him out. Owen basically flipped our whole understanding upside down. He explained that we were building Obie’s endurance with those long walks and that throwing him into high-stress environments like day camp was actually making everything worse. It was a hard realization, but also the moment everything started to make sense. From the very first evaluation with Owen, we knew this was different. It didn’t feel like just obedience training or creating dependence on treats or an e-collar. It felt like the goal was to build a confident dog who could actually live a calm, happy life without needing medication. We were blown away after the first week. In the first report video, Obie was relaxed, off his anti-anxiety meds, and walking perfectly in heel. It honestly didn’t even feel like the same dog. Now six weeks later, Obie is home. Of course he is testing what he can get away with here and there, but now we actually have a way to communicate with him and follow through. We can have him off leash outside, take him on walks without stress, and just enjoy being with him. We’ve gone from cleaning up pee every single day and losing our minds at what to do with him to now having an obedient dog. From not being able to step out of his sight without him completely freaking out, to him calmly hanging out around the house and yard. It really does feel like we have a completely different dog. This has changed our lives and I can’t say enough about it.
