K9 Optima

Josh was so incredibly helpful in assessing our rescue’s dog’s behavior. Because of this session we now have a much more comprehensive assessment of specific triggers for our dog, down to very nuanced details. I now feel much more confident we can set him up for success to be adopted. Josh even offered to help the future adopter out if need be. His graciousness makes it obvious that he genuinely cares about rescue dogs, not just disciplining and sport dogs. I am very excited to continue this partnership with K9 Optima and will certainly be booking more sessions with future dogs!

I wrote my review here a few years ago and it still holds true! I have a new dog and Josh was my first call. Josh is the best trainer period. I’ve tried other trainers and no one comes close to truly loving what they do and loving working with animals like Josh. He’s also great at what he does—diagnosing the issue and helping owners resolve the issue with effective techniques. Stella my Maltese loves working with Josh and now Comet does too! I can’t recommend him more highly.

A few weeks ago we rescued what turned out to be a Sheppard Husky mix. Around week 2 we noticed some reactive behavior and knew we needed some help. We found K9 Optima online and decided to set a training appointment right away. Today, we had our first appointment and when Josh appeared from the side of the house, our dog barked and lunged, perfectly illustrating our concern. Within 15 minutes, our dog was calm and we were learning a ton. Our session included evaluating the kinds of triggers that our dog reacts to which is really helpful. Having an expert help "read" the dog and provide insight is such an incredible value. We always rescue our dogs and have two others, one of those is a 4 year old cattle dog mix. We felt so good about our session today, we are thinking of signing up the cattle dog next just to improve our handling of him. We want to be able to take them both places, and for them to become friends. Today's insights will help a lot toward that goal. The bottom line is that my wife and I both recommend K9 Optima.
