K9 Reset

We were asked to foster/adopt a Samoyed puppy just under a year old from NYC. We had no clue about this breed and honestly, my husband and I was not looking for a new dog. She was high energy barking and with 2 young kids and a busy house we needed to find a trainer. I googled a trainer near me and came across K9 reset. Rich was life saving! He is straight forward explains everything. I ask a million questions and he never got annoyed or frustrated haha! I was sold! We did a few sessions and boarded our Stella and she came back a completely different dog for the best! Rich is great at remaining in contact and if I have any questions he’s always available! I recommend him to everyone. He’s the best!

We had a great experience with K9 reset. Rich spent time with us during the evaluation showing us the proper methods With training and using correction collars. We immediately noticed a difference with our pups. We boarder trained our male Shepard while at home we were working with our female Shepard using the techniques that Rich showed us. We are still working with them as they are puppies as he will need continued training because they are just puppies but Rich gave us a great start.

I had two training sessions with Rich to help me manage a dog reactive dog with bad recall. We had tried other training methods (clicker training in group classes, private instruction, daycare with training) and none were helping me have more control over my dog or lessening her anxiety when approached by other dogs (which triggers her aggression). I found K9 Reset via Google search. It was easy to set up a call with Rich to describe my situation and talk about options. As I have an adult dog I've had for 4 years now who recently developed some issued, I didn't want to move immediately into the board and train. I immediately appreciated Rich's flexibility to work with me as a private lesson client open to possibly boarding my dog with him after we'd done some basic training. We did sessions with a prong collar and e-collar. I was interested in the e-collar from meeting other dog owners who'd had success with it, but I was nervous to try to 'teach myself' how to use it. Rich walked me through how and when to use both during our sessions. We've only had the e-collar for about a month, and I'm taking things slowly, but I'm seeing these tools start to work. Rich gave extremely helpful hands-on instruction, gave me manageable homework to do, and checks in periodically to see how we're doing. I can tell he really cares about his clients and their success and I'm so glad I found him as a resource to help me with my dog. And, if I ever adopted another dog, I'd absolutely send them to Rich for training from the get go.

After a detailed search I decided to inquire with Rich about training for our 15 month lab/hound rescue. Addie came to us by way of GA where she spent the beginning if her life chained to a tree, no training and I. The elements of GA weather with no shelter. She had no interest in praise, treats or rewards. She had an extremely high prey drive with extreme pulling on leash and a zest to escape and run away at the slightest moment. After meeting Rich for a couple of private lessons for prong collar use and then e-collar training we decided to send her to him for one week of “overnight camp” or boot camp. I believe my words were “she has run away 8 times I’m sure we are just giving you a donation.” Was I wrong! Addie responds so well to him. He had her working hard-mentally. Every video we received was better than the one before. Especially leash free trail walking and running while he was biking. Picking her up we still weren’t convinced one week had changed her. We realized it was us that needed the changing. We had to maintain his methods at home to optimize success. Two weeks later we had her in Vermont, NH and Maine all leash free, happy and obeying commands. It’s a work in progress. Mostly for us. We could not be more thrilled in our progress and hers. Rich is a kind, personable and dedicated trainer. We feel so fortunate that an internet search led us to him. You will be too.
