TLDR; Trainer is rude, condescending, not worth the time or money This is a bit of a long review, I won a free consultation and 1 hour training course with k9katelynn in a raffle I entered. When we scheduled an appointment for the consultation I was asked to leave a review on Google for the prompt response, which was kind of a red flag, but I wanted to review after the service. The consultation was quick, but I felt uncomfortable very quickly, I felt rushed and when I tried to clarify what I was looking for training wise I was getting snippy and rude responses back. He asked if I wanted to work on my dogs pulling, I said she doesn't pull very often but im working on it and he said "that's not what I asked I just need a yes or no." And the same thing happened when he asked about barking. I told him she doesn't really bark and I have that under control. "I just need a yes or a no." I tried to clarify what I struggled with with him, but he didn't seem interested in hearing me out or helping me with the issue. He made it sound like he could/would only help with teaching my dog one command so I just settled on working on her with heel. It wasn't what I wanted out of training but it seemed like all I was going to get through this. I felt like this wasn't very important or valuable especially since it was just the free class from the raffle and I wasn't purchasing any more. The next week we had the training class, he was 20 minutes late, we ran through the note taking, he took a couple laps around our living room to work on the heel command with my dog, and when it was my turn he asked my roommate to go sit off to the side, and I was having trouble taking my dog through the loop. I definitely had to get used to it because I was handling her in a new way I never had before, sure, but this man was getting frustrated, raising his voice at me, saying "Hurry up. Quit stopping. Put your hand down. Keep walking. You stopped again. I just told you to stop doing that. Do you even know what 45° is?" Non. Stop. It was unbelievably condescending and embarrassing. I got extremely overwhelmed and uncomfortable very quickly. My roommate was there for all of it, and in her own words said that he "berated" me, and said it seemed like I was the one being trained. The training was short, definitely not the entire hour because after getting here 20 minutes late he also left early. The session was maybe 30-40 minutes and ended with me almost in tears from being overwhelmed. I just wanted to continue to train my dog. I didn't deserve to be humiliated, embarrassed, and berated. I work with dogs for a living, I work with dog trainers, and there are plenty out there that are much happier and much nicer working with you and your dog, that are more affordable.
