Charlotte is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about training owners and their dogs. Her manner is direct, honest, humorous and relatable and she is generous with helpful insights in both Socialization and Puppy Primer classes. The friendly members in the small classes make for a very fun and informative time that is just crammed full of learning opportunities. Love. Love. LOVE K9ology! We had the pleasure of working with several trainers as we began our dog's therapy training program. I can't speak to the program itself because our dog's health began to suddenly decline and we've had to stop her training. However, what we did experience was incredible. Firm, gentle training and education as to why we did it and how to keep it up at home. My dog LOVED coming here, and their space is always sparkling clean and the staff is super friendly and clearly love the animals. I can't recommend enough! (Also: my 9 year old daughter came with me to trainings, and they were awesome with helping her handle the dog as well)

I will freely acknowledge that my wife and I are beginners in dog training. After recently obtaining our first dog (a black lab puppy), we wanted to learn how to help mold Milo into the best dog he could be (I imagine this is how parents feel about their children). Therefore we pursued dog training knowledge by watching several hours of YouTube videos, reading numerous online articles, and talking to three different animal/dog trainers and several dog owners (whose dogs are well behaved). What we learned is that there is (like most things) a wide range of philosophies (positive vs. negative) and training methods (how to teach the owner to use the different philosophies to train dogs). As I happen to be a scientist, logic is essential. Charlotte is the first trainer whose training philosophy and methods made end-to-end logical sense to me. She was the first trainer to define a clear demarcation between the commands "stay" and "wait." Charlotte reasoned that "No" (and negative pressure followed by positive reward) is more easily learned by a dog than different commands applied towards unwanted behavior (e.g., "Off"). She also said dogs know that their human handlers are not dogs; therefore, using methods their mother would use may not be as effective in the long run (like humans holding the dog down until it learns a forced submission). She also customizes the training based on the dog type. While many dog breeds have a personal space boundary (like humans), labs' space boundary is essentially zero (and why they make good pets as they always want to be next to us). My wife and I have a long way to go, as dog training requires dedication and perseverance. But with the philosophy and methods we gained from our three lessons with K9OLOGY and Charlotte (with Milo), we have more confidence that we can lead and train Milo into a dog that promotes his wellbeing and happiness.
