We brought our two-year-old shiba inu named Rocky to Stonehill in January on a referral from friends and we could not be more thrilled with the results. Rocky had serious disobedience issues, as well as anxiety and aggression in many different situations. Before we went to Stonehill, we were at a complete loss as to what to do (he is our first dog), and had tried a number of local trainers. I can't state strongly enough how glad I am we made the decision to send him to Stonehill. Our trainer, Melissa, is an outstanding trainer. She has a gift for reading canines, and with Rocky she seemed to understand him immediately. I was hesitant to send Rocky away for so long, but we very quickly realized that he was being so well taken care of, and that everyone at Stonehill really just cared about the dogs in their care, and what dogs, specifically (since they are not humans!), need. Now when we go back for follow up training sessions, Rocky runs up to Melissa and heads straight to the kennel as if it is home. We also had a great experience with Chris, who explained very clearly to us what his training methods were as well as enormously helpful information about dog psychology. We now have such a better understanding of what Rocky is going through. Back at home Rocky is so much more relaxed and obedient. He goes to his place on command (and often on his own). Walking him is a calm and fun experience now, whereas before he screamed on the leash and it was often a struggle even to get him to leave the house. We still have more to work on in terms of recall (very hard with shiba inus--although of course he does it perfectly with Melissa!) and heel while walking, and we will continue to go up for sessions to perfect these. The value you get out of this training is far more than we ever could have hoped for. It's a life changer. We will definitely be bringing Rocky back for boarding when needed. We brought Elon our 2 Month old German Sheperd to Stonehill.. One of the few boarding training facility we found that accepted Elon at his age.. The facility, Chris the Owner, Melissa our Trainer were awesome. I admit to doing a poor job in training our little Havanese didn’t want to do same mistake w Elon and have a Liability w 4 legs and a tail.. Melissa our trainer provided us with the foundation the training is as much for Leo as it is for us and it’s ongoing. The price is not cheap but for someone that has done the Petco trainining and got nothing out of it I can say you get what you pay for.. Our communication w Melissa the trainer is excellent she continues answering all our questions and we can see the bond Elon and Melissa have form.. Highly Recommend!!!

My husband and I just brought home our 1 year old Male Rottweiler Axel from 8 weeks of obedience training at Stonehill Kennel. Having such a strong and stubborn breed, we knew we needed a lot of help with his reactivity. From the very first communication, to working weekly training sessions with our dog, we had such a positive experience. Landry and the entire staff were responsive and supportive of our needs and concerns as owners. Even more impressive was the work Landry put into training Axel. We never once worried about him while he was there because it was so evident that he and the entire staff truly cared about our dog. If you are looking into a board and train and are hesitant like I was, I highly recommend choosing Stonehill Kennel. Every trainer is intuitive to the needs of the dog and takes into consideration the rate at which the dog is progressing before sending home. In weekly sessions, Landry always took his time with us and we never felt rushed. The best part of the service at Stonehill is the ongoing training for the life of the dog. We know we still have a lot of work to do with Axel as owners but it is comforting to know that we can still go to Landry for questions, advice and follow up sessions as needed.
