Kabler School For Dogs

My deepest thanks for !Great! results from Basic Training and now Off Leash training with Bennett at Kabler School for Dogs in Asheville. I get clear, concise instructions for ME that translate into my dog Ranger, being happy and well trained. (PS- Ranger is NOT a 'doodle', he is a Lagotto Romagnolo, here sporting his Working Companion groom in a high distraction environment with noise, machinery and other dogs roaming around!)

Our dogs want to be better, they want to please us and we owe it to them to provide the training to be that special dog. Thank you for transforming a really smart, but undisciplined dog into an exceptional dog who guards us, walks/heels with us, comes immediately when called and still loves to cuddle on our laps. I have recommended Kabler School for Dogs to anyone who could benefit from top shelf professional training. We had our mix bred two year old rescue, Taz, for 12 months and were having difficulty breaking him of some behaviors, e.g., digging in the yard, getting on the furniture and beds, greeting people by jumping on them, pulling on the leash, not responding when called, overly zealous with other dogs and on several occasions counter surfed a ribeye steak. Our daughter passed a dog and owner on a trail in Bent Creek and was thoroughly impressed with the dogs overall behavior. The owner recommended Kabler School for Dogs. We opted for a 30-day Residency Board and Train. Since we were not permitted to visit over the course of the 30 days, Nick Lentz, Taz’s trainer, and others provided us with videos and photos. We missed him so much and eagerly looked forward to seeing him. Since Taz had a rough start in life (at only a year old he already had four names), I had concerns that my sweet, happy little boy who gave me total joy just watching him embrace the world on our early morning walks, would be transformed into an uptight dog waiting for the next ‘command’. But he wasn’t. He burst out to meet us with the same love and enthusiasm as he always exhibited. Nick had the leash and instructed us as to proper procedures, handling, commands, etc., which Taz had been taught and now we needed to implement these techniques at home. It has been four months and we are so completely delighted with our sweet, lovable, obedient and well trained dog. On our morning walks we see other dogs and Taz is not triggered at all, he almost seems ‘snobbish’ toward other dogs. As dogs are puling, tugging, barking and out of control, Taz is totally chill. Some compliments given by owners include, “Very impressive”, “He’s has such control” and more. I am so proud of our little pup, he impresses me everyday. He is an amazing dog and we love him completely. He no longer digs in the yard looking for moles, nor does he climb on the furniture, jumps to greet people, is aggressive with other dogs, or counter surfs. He has been caught sleeping on the bed and was reprimanded, “Stay off the bed, you’re getting hair all over the bedspread.” A few days later, he was sleeping on the bed again, only this time he pulled down the bedspread! True story! The only time he has difficulty maintaining his enthusiasm is when the grandkids and grand dogs come over.

Our 2 pups thrived at Kabler with Mars as their dog trainer. Our initial problem was with our Pit/Lab mix, Stella. She was very stubborn, had a mind of her own, loved to pull on walks, & she had zero recall. Now she is a phenomenal walker & will come at the first call which we couldn’t be happier about. She also initially didn’t have much food motivation, but the trainers worked on her & now she does which is a big plus when it comes to training pups! We also put our puppy Jackson who is a black lab through puppy school & their obedience school & he is also phenomenal. They’ve improved a ton on walks by not lunging at other dogs/people, not pulling, & listening to us. If we had any questions, we could email them whenever which is very helpful! We can also take them to coffee shops, breweries, hikes, etc & they will listen to us a lot better than they used to. We couldn’t recommend Kabler enough, they are phenomenal!
