Kat the Dog Lady

Kat DeBusk is an amazing dog trainer. She not only trains your dog, she trains you as well. I watched my timid little rescue dog transform into a confident, happy member of our family thanks to Kat’s incredible talent and training techniques. Not only does Kat work with you during your scheduled training sessions, but she is readily available to assist you with online coaching between sessions. Although our sessions have ended, I will continue to work with Kat for periodic refresher training. I highly recommend Kat as a trainer for your dog whether a puppy or adult and particularly if you have a rescue dog. You can’t do any better than Kat.

We've hired Kat to walk our senior dog for a few months now, and she is AMAZING! She is so kind and caring to our old girl, who often takes a little gentle coaxing to go for walks. I keep telling her that she's the most professional person in Las Vegas--she always lets us know if her schedule is going to be even a few minutes different, and she communicates with us about each and every walk. Hire her. You won't regret it. As a bonus, she'll even take cute pictures of your pet each time.

We feel very lucky to have found and worked with Kat and highly recommend her services. My husband and I have had many dogs, and we thought we understood dogs, but with our recent rescue, Lammie, we needed help. I was in tears when I reached out to Kat about our sweet rescue dog that was quickly becoming a terror. Before contacting Kat, we tried working with the out-of-state trainer associated with our rescue. However, that was ineffective because the trainer couldn’t be in our home. We tried YouTube and Reddit and went down all the social media training rabbit holes. All it did was frustrate Lammie and us. We were all stressed and confused. In addition to normal dog misbehaviors (some cute, some not so cute), Lammie had escalating aggression that we knew had to be stopped as soon as possible. Lammie wouldn’t get off furniture when asked (this would turn aggressive) and constantly tried to get in our bed. He stopped wanting to go on walks and was starting to rule our house with his stubborn behavior. We were beginning to think we couldn’t have guests over, and having maintenance people in was becoming very hectic, not because of aggression but because we had no control over Lammie. Kat helped us learn to “talk” to Lammie and set him up for success. What she did for our relationship with our dog has been life-changing, and it happened in only 5 sessions. We now know how to communicate with Lammie, and he understands our expectations. He is confident, respects us, and, most importantly, he trusts us. The sessions and our homework were a lot of fun! We looked forward to our sessions each week, and so did Lammie. We didn’t know what to expect when hiring a trainer, but working with Kat was relaxed while being structured. The absolute best thing about Kat is that she understands that the relationship we want with our dog may not be the same as what everyone else wants, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. If your dog understands expectations, a lot of things can be okay. For example, I had heard that we shouldn’t let our dog mouth while playing, but he absolutely loves it, and I can tell it’s bonding for him. Kat taught us how we could allow him to do this. The same is true with playing tug or being on furniture. Ultimately, getting on the furniture will probably never happen for Lammie, but that’s okay, and Kat helped us try. The list of things that Kat has helped us learn could go on and on! Kat is friendly, responsive, trustworthy, and dependable. Also, it’s worth noting that Kat loves dogs, and it shows. We have interacted with animal professionals who (oddly) appear indifferent to dogs and cats, but this is not the case with her. She even loved our cat! Investing in sessions with Kat the Dog Lady will be the best thing for you if you want to have a great relationship with your dog or if you’re trying to solve behavior issues.

Kat is the only trainer I'd recommend for your dog! She has been the only trainer for our two chihuahua puppies, Benji and Gracie. Benji has never lacked energy, which proved to be a challenge when we got him at 8 weeks old. We knew we needed help when he started taking toilet paper off the toilet paper roll and running through the house. He was also extremely fearful of everything. Because of Kat's methods, Benji is well adjusted at a year old and he's using his energy for positive things. It's made our lives so much easier! Gracie was a different challenge. She refused to walk on a leash and within in the first lesson, Kat had her walking. Now she loves it. They both know their commands and we'll soon be starting service dog training with Kat. We're excited to continue!
