My only regret is that I didn’t find KC Dawgz sooner. I was told most days by a previous trainer that my 7-month old pup, Tia should be on anxiety medication due to her inability to relax, and the fear issues she had. I was beginning to lose hope that I would ever be able to take her out in public or have her off-leash, which I have been able to do with every other dog I have owned. Upon taking Tia to a couple of KC Dawgz evaluations, the trainers that I met told me they felt that medication was not necessary, and their balanced training style would help. I was skeptical at first, but later realized they were right. It was a huge relief, and I’m so glad I didn’t go down the medication route. Thanks to our awesome trainer, Christina, Tia, went from an excitable yet sometimes fearful dog who would want to greet every person and dog, but run away from things that were new to her, to one who will now calmly sit and wait for people and dogs to go by, and approach things that previously scared her without freaking out. She will now spend as much time as needed staying in her place, which is great when preparing and eating dinner. She is much more calm around our other dog and cat, instead of chasing and jumping all over them like she used to. Her recall is now fantastic, and I feel more confident having people over, knowing she isn’t going to jump all over them. From day one, Tia and I were met with a smile and a warm welcome from Christina, and Tia was always excited to see her, which speaks volumes to me. After the initial excitement of arriving at “school”, Tia seemed calm and relaxed while she was there, even napping during her place time. Her obedience improved in leaps and bounds right from the start, and I was so encouraged by the reports I received at the end of each day, which always began with “Tia had a good or great day”. She went on multiple field trips during the month-long course, and was exposed to different environments and situations. She also worked with different trainers, so she wouldn’t think she should just listen to one person. Christina always took the time to answer the many questions I had, and explained things in a way that made sense to me. She met my husband and me with Tia at Home Depot, and showed us how to introduce Tia to the animated Christmas decorations (which was one of her fear issues), and within 30 minutes she was able to approach a singing/dancing reindeer that she was initially terrified of. I am so thankful for Christina and KC Dawgz. I know Tia wouldn’t be anywhere near the well-behaved dog that she is now without them. Having finished the 4-week day-training, she is continuing to improve every day, and is so much easier to manage. Thank you so much!
