I adopted a 5 month old golden retriever, Poppy, who was so people/dog obsessed that she had absolutely no impulse control and would take off in the direction of anyone she saw and completely ignore calls to come back. We do a lot of off leash hiking with our older dog and wanted to be able to bring Poppy along with us and have confidence that she would be able to listen and respond to us. We were traveling in March and decided it would be the perfect time to send Poppy to Josh’s “freedom” board and train (focused on recall specifically). I was incredibly nervous to leave Poppy somewhere she had never been with someone she didn’t know, but Josh was great with her. Unfortunately she had some GI issues while she was with him (possible food sensitivities that are still being sorted) but he was extremely understanding (dealing with diarrhea every other day is not fun for anyone) and he even offered some suggestions on different things we could try and allowed us to ship a different type of food/supplement to his house so he could trial those with her. When we got Poppy back, we immediately noticed a huge difference in her recall and her impulse control in general. We of course had to continue reinforcing the things he taught her on our end, but it has been almost 3 months since her board and train and her recall has continued to improve to a point where she’s almost perfect with it. We have been able to easily call her away from chasing things, playing with other dogs, etc. We started private leash lessons with Josh a week ago to work on some leash pulling and after only one lesson, she has already shown substantial improvement. Normally she would pull me around the sidewalk like a rag doll, but on our first walk together after our lesson, she was walking with a slack leash almost the entire walk with minimal corrections. While she will still require a lot of repetition to be perfect, I’m shocked at the progress she has made. I would highly recommend Josh to anyone looking for help with virtually any issue your dog is facing. He is very knowledgeable, calm, and patient and has really helped turn Poppy into a very well mannered pup.

Reliable recall achieved! My 2yo American Bully (Sig) already had basic obedience, but I was struggling with consistent recall. During my free consultation with Joshua, he proposed a training plan that was tailored to Sig's needs and breed. Unlike the other trainers I reached out to, our unique situation was taken into account and the results speak for themselves. Sig can now enjoy the freedom of being off leash and I am able to relax outside while my dogs play. As a bonus, thanks to some tips, we also now have loose leash walking! The recall training is exceptional! I am astounded. I had a very stubborn escape artist dog that would not hear me to return. Now, I have no problems with recall. I use the commands taught and he returns to me. I have profound gratitude for this training. He is not as much of a handful for me. I do the support work to keep the training used and remembered daily. The "return" on my investment I made is unmeasurable. My dog is safer and I am at peace with his obedience level now. I highly recommend King K9 Academy for any of their training programs.

We took Echo to Joshua for some basic leash and recall training. We had tried group classes and doggy day school with minimal improvement. He is such a good boy in the house but on leash he was extremely hard to handle. He is a sensitive boy as well so I was worried the use of an E-collar would cause Echo to be more anxious than he already was. Joshua explained his process in great detail and reassured us of the benefits. Well 3 weeks later and I feel like we have a completely different dog! He is less anxious and seems more settled. He is still the same happy goofy boy, but now is a dream to walk on and OFF leash. His recall that was almost nonexistent is as close to prefect as you can get. Echo can finally come on all the adventures with our family! I can’t thank Joshua enough for helping unlock Echo’s potential. Joshua truly has a gift when it comes to working with dogs.
