Josh is Amazing These sisters (Bugsy and Bonesy)came to us from San Antonio Tx. Their foster found them in a park rummaging through trash barrels. They made their way to us in Maine with a fabulous rescue org. They are just over a year old. They were untrained dogs and a challenge just trying to do basic training. After 6 weeks of private lessons from Josh at King K9 Academy. These beautiful dogs are experts on recall, place and now run free in our yard supervised.we are working towards expert level heeling. I cannot thank Josh enough for his help in teaching us how to best communicate with them. Remi is a wonderful loving 100-pound German Sheperd dog, but my wife and I had trouble coping with her behaviors. Excessive pulling on leash (resulting in a complete total shoulder replacement for me!), super excitability, jumping on and mouthing friends and guests, barking, jumping back and forth from front and back seats in a vehicle, aggression towards other dogs, and whining for attention. Enter Joshua at King K-9 Academy! Results were almost immediate! Joshua worked with Remi and I for approximately 8 sessions. I can now walk with her heeling on a slack leash with no pulling at all. We can walk by other dogs, and she simply ignores them even if they are barking at her! She now can ride in a vehicle and remain lying down in the back seat. I continue to work with her to fine tune her behaviors and improve our relationship. I realize it will take a commitment from me to continue to reinforce her training and I am looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with our Remi! Many thanks to you, Joshua...

Reading a stack of books was not as good as getting Josh’s help with our reactive pup. Josh taught us how to be consistent and to be good teachers for our little Lucy. He helped expand Lucy’s repertoire of actions and taught us how to keep her attention on us when we need it most. She now heels, comes on command, sits, stays, goes to place, and obeys other nuanced commands. Josh is a super teacher of dogs and humans! We highly recommend King K9 Academy.

My puppy Lou is a sweet mini Aussie with lots of energy and a little sass. She is my third mini Aussie and was giving me trouble with recall and eating things like cigarette butts on the road. Both were safety issues and I had to get this under control. I went to Josh at King K9 Academy on the advice of my brother, who had gone to Josh for successful training of his three golden retrievers. From my first meeting with Josh, I knew this was the right place for Lou and for me. Josh has a very calming presence and explains things very well. Much of the e-collar training is about learning when and how to use the collar, along with rewards and cues. I needed the repetition that Josh provided as we practiced in his back field with things like heeling and going to place. His chickens even provided a good opportunity to work with a major distraction! At the end of six weeks, I was more confident and Lou was happy and confident as well. She loves “place”, which has served as a great way to get her calm and focused. She is also great with heel and recall off leash. I use the e-collar regularly and it makes our lives calmer and safer. I would recommend Josh to anyone who wants to train their dog in a sensible, kind, and effective way. I’ve already given his information to many people. King K9 Academy was exactly what Lou and I needed.

Zar is a 16 month, 141 pound Bernese Mountain dog puppy. He was good natured but was stubborn and impulsive. He loved slurping down socks, lunging towards neighbors, and flat out refused to get in the car once he figured out I could no longer lift him in. Joshua Atell, at King K9 Academy worked wonders with Zar. Josh worked with Zar for three weeks and transformed him from an impulsive puppy to a compliant dog. Josh then worked with me so that the Zar’s new skills could be transferred to his home setting. I would highly recommend King K9 Academy and will use them again when I get another dog. I am now a believer in the power of a well trained dog. It’s better for Zar, it’s better for me.
