Kingseed Kennels & Dog Training

I learned about Kingseed Kennels, Patti, and Tim through a friend who referred them to me as breeders, trainers, and great people. Referrals and personal experiences are the best way to choose people to work with, so I’ve decided to write my own. From the moment I pulled into the driveway to pick out our pup (Kingseed's John “The Duke” Wayne), Patti and Tim were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Patti sent us home with a small paint roller, advising us to throw it down a hallway so the puppy would only have the option to return to us. So, training started on day one at home. I dropped Duke off on April 1 and kept in touch with Tim during the first few weeks to get updates on Duke's progress. After 10 weeks (of the 16-week program), I asked if I could come out once a week to train with Duke. Tim said yes, and in hindsight, these were the most important days for me. I had the opportunity to watch Tim and his partners work with young dogs, adult dogs, and experienced dogs, learning both what he had taught Duke and what he would start teaching me. I learned an awful lot just by watching and listening to three experts work with many dogs of different experience levels. Tim might be the most patient person I’ve ever met, both with the dogs and the handlers. I was new to this world and needed as much guidance as the dog needed training. Tim invited me to his house for a one-on-one session so I could learn how to handle a proven, experienced dog. Tim provided guidance on food, kennels, training equipment, and a continued training plan. A few days after I picked up Duke from training, Tim followed up, asking how his transition home was going and if I had any questions. This dialogue continued into our first hunting season, for which I was very grateful. I would never hesitate to call Patti or Tim for guidance or advice. By the way, Duke has become a well-behaved, strong retriever, whether in the goose blind or the duck boat. His prey drive and Labrador affection for humans are second to none. I call him our family’s first gun dog. Great people. Great breeding. Great training. Great gun dogs.
