Klug K9 Training

I am incredibly grateful to Niki and Klug K9 for coming into our lives when our family really needed it. ❤️ We originally sought out a behavioral evaluation for our dogs after a previous trainer gave us a very serious recommendation following a short evaluation. We had never gone through anything like this before, so we trusted the professional opinion we had been given and were preparing ourselves for the possibility of losing both of our dogs. When we contacted a veterinarian who provides in-home euthanasia, she actually encouraged us to get additional opinions first and recommended Niki with Klug K9 and Summer with New Leaf K9. Looking back, I am so thankful that she did. We did end up having Summer and Niki come out together. They approached our situation completely differently than what we had experienced before. Before they even came to our home, they had us complete an extensive questionnaire, reviewed videos we sent them, and stayed in communication with us. When they arrived, they spent two hours thoroughly evaluating our dogs rather than simply observing them for a few minutes. They watched us interact with the dogs, had us work through different exercises, watched their body language and reactions, asked questions about their history and daily environment, and even recorded videos throughout the appointment so they could go back afterward and review all of the little details they observed. What meant the most to me was how incredibly kind and nonjudgmental they were. They knew about the previous evaluation, but they never tried to discredit the other trainer or tell us what we wanted to hear. They were professional, respectful, and completely focused on understanding our dogs for themselves. I felt comfortable with them regardless of what the final answer was going to be because I knew they were genuinely trying to do what was best for our dogs and our family. Our girl had nipped our niece in the nose, which was understandably frightening and something we take very seriously. They did not promise us that something could never happen again, and I actually appreciated that honesty. Instead, they were honest about possible reality of management and talked about options of some training. We were so happy to hear that behavioral euthanasia was not a recommendation from either of them. Ultimately, we are hoping to move forward with Niki for some management and training! The biggest thing Niki gave us was hope without giving us false reassurance. We are left feeling like we can come to hopefully understand our dogs better and actually move forward. And honestly, just being treated with kindness during such an emotional and terrifying experience meant more than I can put into words. We never felt judged or made to feel like bad owners. Niki and Summer took the time to listen, observe, and help us. I would wholeheartedly recommend Klug K9 to anyone who wants a thorough, thoughtful, ethical, and compassionate evaluation. Niki didn’t just look at our dogs — she looked at the whole picture. We are so thankful we reached out for another opinion. It truly changed everything for our family. ❤️ We are hopeful and excited to move forward with Niki!

I highly recommend Nikki and Klug K9 Training. After a foot injury and while still on my knee scooter, I was able to safely take my dog to the marina for a walk and training. My dog either sat or laid down and stayed for all passing people and dogs!!! He also did so well listening while we walked/rolled. He is a different dog because you've showed us how to communicate with him. Thank you sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!

Can't recommend Klug 9 more, I have a 3 year old male Rottweiler who was rehomed to me (I am his 3rd owner) So he had a lot of inconsistency and bad habits. Just in the 6 weeks of training for the Rockstar 1 class I have seen so much improvement in his listening and behavior. (you have to be consistent at home too) Him and I both have learned so much in the short 6 weeks. Looking forward to the Rockstar 2! Nikki is great!

I have had dogs my entire adult life, and while I always started training with each puppy, I didn’t go much beyond the basics until I got my first large breed dog 12 years ago. That’s when I realized that behaviors I could ignore with smaller dogs became unmanageable with a 70+ pound dog. We did a board and train with her, and while she learned, I didn’t, and we weren’t consistent in maintaining her training. Luckily, with age, she mellowed out. When we got our puppy, Willow, a year ago, I knew I had to approach things differently and be actively involved in her training. That’s when I found Nikki at Klug K9. We started training early this year, and I’m thrilled with Willow’s progress. We are currently finishing our third class and about to start our fourth. In addition to classes, Willow also attends day training with Nikki. Nikki is an exceptional trainer. Not only does she hold the dogs accountable, but she also ensures that we, as owners, are putting in the work as well. The results with Willow have been remarkable, and I’m excited to continue her training with Klug K9. What really sets Nikki apart is that she genuinely cares. She wants every dog to succeed and understands that each owner and dog has unique needs and goals. In my 20+ years of owning dogs and participating in various training programs—ranging from puppy classes to online courses, private lessons, and board-and-train programs—I’ve seen the most success in the shortest time with Nikki.
