Klug K9 Training

We got a German Shepherd puppy and we were having trouble controlling him. We were also having a difficult time training him. We reached out to Klug K9 Training for help. After a two week board and train, we were amazed at the difference in our boy. We are working with him now along with some follow up day training sessions with Klug K9 Training. We will also be looking to further his training with weekly classes in the future. Our boy is very energetic and can be a lot at times, but with the skills he learned from his training, and the tools and knowledge we ourselves have been given, we are growing and progressing together. We are thankful for Klug K9 getting us, and him, on track and we are looking forward to continuing his growth and learning, as well as ours.

I'm so glad I found Klug K9 for training! I have a very reactive dog and Nikki has given me some valuable tools and training practices to help me manage her behaviors. We just finished her six week balanced training reactive dog class. This allowed Nikki to observe Ava's reactivity and give me advice for training as well as help via email between classes. Nikki's approach to her clients shows she cares about you and your dogs relationship. She's an excellent teacher, practical, very observant, and provides a safe, comfortable environment for learning, even in the rain and cold! She also gives you weekly lessons to work on, and practical hands-on advice when things aren't working. Thank you Nikki for all your help with Ava!!

The trainer, Nikki is amazing! I took my 8 year old dog for the reactive dog training classes due to him getting super excited and lunging at other dogs and getting distracted easily. We learned amazing exercises that has made a huge difference in his behavior on walks turning him into an even more perfect doggo, all thanks to this class! 10/10 recommended for effectiveness of the curriculum, the amazing people you meet, and how easy Nikki is to communicate with. Seriously amazing! She has so much to offer and has her own little doggie community that she leads. I am super glad we decided to become a part of her pack!

I have a 2 yr old Shepherd/Husky/cattle dog mix who is high energy and really smart, requiring a lot of mental stimulation. She’s also reactive (pro tip that I learned too late: dog parks are NOT somewhere you want to take your dog). I’ve had her since she was 11 weeks old and she’s always been suspicious of her surroundings. I wanted the both of us to learn how to address these traits and behaviors properly and was referred to Klug K9 by a friend who had their Mal trained with the owner, Niki, so I knew this had to be a good option. We just finished Nikki’s Reactive Dog class, meeting 1x week for 6 weeks at her location. She’s got a fantastic outdoor space along with a covered, lighted space for those PNW rainy days. We learned how to prevent our dogs from engaging in behaviors that trigger reactivity, and how to quickly and effectively end an engagement that will escalate. We were taught basics (sit, lie down, place, hell, come, etc) for those who didn’t have this skill, or maybe needed to improve. There’s really no expectation that your dog met a specific level before entering the class, so no need to worry about how your dog will do if they don’t even have the basics. Nikki will teach you. We received weekly emails with recaps from class and instructions on what we needed to work on through the week. Nikki encouraged us to call/text/email with any questions during the week. It’s very clear that Nikki cares about the outcome and it’s not just a job or paycheck to her. Nikki knows her stuff! She’s very attuned to both the dogs and their owners, offering helpful critique in a way that makes the expectations clear and effective. Nikki provides insight to why the dogs do what they do, how we as owners can sometimes unintentionally add to the problem, and effective solutions to correct those problems. I’ve had dogs all my life and attended several types of training classes. This has been my first reactive dog, therefore my first experience with this type of class, and Nikki nails it. The training is great, but the real work comes from the dog and the owner. Consistency is the difference between progress and failure. Nikki stresses the importance of consistency, ongoing training, and reinforcement. I’ve seen a huge reduction in my dogs reactivity to the Amazon drivers, cats, & strangers that come to my door, and a marked improvement in my dogs consistent response to my commands. We’re still a work in progress, but I’m confident that we will continue improving. I plan to continue working on nailing the basics that we learned in Reactive Dog class, and then taking the Beginners Obedience class in the beginning of the new year. I want my dog to be very responsive and confident before I add new items to her plate. I definitely recommend Klug K9.
