Kodiak K9 Training

We recently completed a 3-week board and train with Megan for our 10-month-old Labrador, Gus. We had never boarded him before, so we were pretty nervous about being away from him for that long. We originally reached out because Gus is the sweetest dog, but excitement often gets the best of him. We wanted help with behaviors like pulling on walks, jumping on people, counter surfing, rushing through doorways, and demand barking. Our ultimate goal has always been to give him more freedom through training so we can confidently take him hiking, swimming, and eventually off leash. During his stay, Megan sent us training videos so we could see what she was teaching and learn alongside Gus. The biggest highlight, though, was drop-off day. She spent over two hours with us at our home explaining everything, answering our questions, and practicing drills until we felt comfortable continuing the training ourselves. It was amazing to see what he had learned in just three weeks. One of the most valuable parts has been the continued support after the program. Being able to send videos, ask questions, and get feedback as we work through things at home has been incredibly helpful. The biggest change has been that we finally have a way to clearly communicate with Gus. He now has a solid foundation, and we’re building on it every day. Walks are so much more enjoyable, and we’ve already taken him swimming and off leash with confidence using the e-collar. It was also reassuring to see the training carry over with Megan and her kids, which showed how consistent and effective the system really is. Most importantly, Gus came home as the same happy, goofy dog we love, with a shared language that helps us understand each other so much better!

Luis did an amazing job with my dog, Jace. Jace had become very reactive to other dogs while we were on walks. It got to the point we would have to reroute our entire walk to avoid other dogs every time we saw one. Luis kept me updated with pictures and videos for the 3 weeks that Jace was with him. During the handover he explained everything that Jace had learned and answered all of my questions. This place definitely sets the foundation and gives you the tools you need to be able to communicate with your dog. The training is not a magic wand...you as the owner have to be willing to put in the work once your dog is returned to you. Jace still tried to "test me" a couple of times in the 2 weeks he has been back home but now I know how to correct him and things don't escalate like they did before. So thankful I found this place and would definitely use them/Luis again with any future dogs I may have.

When I tell you this is just want me and my girl Grace needed, I mean it. Audrey was great with my big pittie who is very sweet but very strong. And while it was hard to be away for 3 weeks, it has been well worth it! Grace is much more attentive and responsive, but still my little goofball. I was not sure about the e-collar but I am now a convert! After training I feel like we are really bonding into a pair. I cannot recommend this program enough!!

We can’t thank Megan at Kodiak K9 Training enough for all of her help and guidance with our dog, Luci. Earlier this month, we welcomed a beautiful baby boy into our family, and thanks to Megan’s training and support, Luci has truly become the best big brother we could have hoped for. Luci has been very interested in our new “human puppy,” but he has never become overly excited, protective, or possessive. He is calm, confident, and seems completely at ease with our baby, which has made this transition so much easier for our entire family. One of our biggest concerns before bringing our son home was how Luci would adjust, and Megan gave us the tools, training, and confidence we needed to set him up for success.
