Layton Retriever Kennels

Layton came highly recommended by a couple of hunting buddies I met when I moved to the area. In my opinion, the operation is one of the best I've had experience with. The training team works to understand each dog and mold them into training, without breaking them and rebuilding. River is truly a better-trained version of the dog I sent, not a broken-souled physical resemblance (which I've seen before from other operations). My questions and presence were never a bother and I was completely comfortable through the whole process. Couldn't have more respect for this training team and I highly recommend them. For potential clients - do yourself and your dog a favor - listen to the trainers. Don't ask them to do something that they advise against. Our first dog Nora flunked out of the hunting program. We were warned early and pulled her out of the hunting program as recommended, and are much happier not having tried to force it.

We hit the jackpot with Layton Retriever Kennels! Greg and Brenda make a phenomenal training duo. We took our 9 month chocolate lab, Olive, to Greg and Brenda for duck dog bootcamp. Its an understatement to say we were blown away at their work! Their facilities are very clean and welcoming. The hard work they put into Olive is very obvious. The best part for me (my hubby may say something different), my dog LOVES them and was still *my* dog. When we went for our visits we were given the opportunity to see Olive work with Greg, she was so eager to do whatever he asked her to do! She worked hard and her tail was wagging the entire time! His calm demeanor, knowledge, and professionalism never waivered. He was sure to tell us her strengths and where she was lacking a little bit. Both Greg and Brenda offered so much wisdom to help us be better owners. Olive's basic obedience was so sharp, thanks to Brenda! Olive is going to be the perfect little duck dog and we can't wait to have her out in the blind retreiving ducks. We are so greatful and will definitely ALWAYS recommend Greg for any training. Olive will be visiting again for "tune-ups" as needed and our future pups will be trained by Greg as well. Thank you Greg and Brenda!!! We are so lucky to have found you! No duck pictures yet, but she'll bring take mom all the fish that dad is catching!

GREAT PEOPLE! BEAUTIFUL LOCATION After doing some research and speaking to Greg Layton we decided Layton Retriever Kennels was the right spot for our pup. We couldn't be happier with that decision. For first timers that have heard horror stories about pups coming home a "different dog" etc., this will not be the case at LRK. We found a space that our dog enjoyed and more importantly was taught or rather guided to enjoy what he was built for. His exuberance on each visit and his eagerness to work with Greg spoke volumes about his treatment. For those who've had their dogs with other facility's, I can't say enough about Greg's intuition on the dogs capabilities, the dog's ability to learn and how those parameters line up to make a good working dog, in this case working to get birds and do so in a somewhat orderly fashion. I do not know Greg on a personal level but the little time I spent with him makes me think he's a good parent and as that is one of the tougher jobs on the planet. I think anyone looking for a good place to have someone work with their dog would be remiss if they did not do due diligence and speak with Greg Layton
