My service dog in training have had the opportunity to work with Mel at Lola K9 Academy since he was 5 months old, now 16 mo old. He is progressing wonderfully in our work together and I am so grateful for the experience, wisdom and skills that Mel shares with us. Training an SD is challenging work, particularly with my disability. I have watched trainers “wash out” prospective service dogs for the past 7 years and with Mel’s help, it seems that Sonnet will be the working partner that I’ve longed for all these years. She’s also incredibly flexible and understanding of my health challenges and we both adore working with her. Looking forward to a lifelong relationship of guidance.

We have been working with Mel for the last 8 months. We have a very high energy dog, and although he is our 3rd dog, we were at a loss of how to manage him. We started by sending him to do a board and train with her at 6 months old. Two weeks later, he came back much more polite and manageable. We have continued to work with her as we have encountered other challenges. Mel uses rewards based training, is gentle but firm, and our dog adores her. She has made such a difference, and we are really grateful for her training both us and our dog.

We started with Mel for a board and train for our Great Pyrenees and we’re so happy with the results! Our dog greatly improved with his listening for the commands she worked on and Mel continued to be a great resource as we took him home and continued training. We now use Mel for daycare on occasions and it’s so great to know our dogs are in a safe place with someone we trust! They come home happy and tired from a fun day!

I did board and train here to help my rescue dog behave and stop pulling on walks as well as her anxiety. I’m so happy I did! I can now walk her with just fingers on the leash, no more chasing rabbits etc. and it’s a joy to walk her now. Her behavior has improved a lot where she is now weaned off of the trazodone and just use a hemp treat to manage all but extreme thunderstorms and stuff. I highly recommend Mel and my dog still goes over for daycare and just goes nuts when she gets to see her!
