When I entered the world of pointing dogs, my first call was to Lone Sage Bird Dogs. JW was out training dogs at the time, but he kindly returned my call later that afternoon. He guided me through the process of acquiring a German Wirehair from a reputable breeder and has spent the past two summers working with my pointer, who has become an absolute rockstar. She has excelled in the steep chukar canyons of Idaho and Oregon, as well as the rolling plains of Eastern Montana for sharptails and huns. JW has been there every step of the way, graciously answering my calls and questions while honing my wirehair into not only a skilled hunting companion but also a delightful dog at home with my wife and two young boys. Additionally, JW has worked with my Labrador, bringing her up to speed and turning her into an excellent pheasant and quail dog. I highly recommend Lone Sage Bird Dogs for all your training needs.

I have taken two of my pointers to Josh and I promise you, if you follow his instructions, you and your dog will transform into a dynamic duo. The best part about Josh, is he really cares about the progress, post training. Constantly checking in and giving advice. I highly recommend Josh if you want your dog to be exceptional.

Lone Sage trained my pointer over a couple of months. JW was extremely communicative throughout the entire process. The dog was delivered with very little formal training and came back ready for his first hunting season. I highly recommend these guys!

I can’t believe how quickly JW got our puppy ready for this falls bird season. JW has an amazing approach to training, and has a passion for delivering on the best trained dogs for their owners, especially 1st time bird dog owners! If you have a pup that you want to be ready for fall give JW and Lone Sage Bird Dogs a call, you won’t be disappointed!!

JW and his team took great care of our 11 month old lab. She came back with better obedience and a harnessed hunting passion. I highly recommend his training and will continue to take our dog there for additional training as she gets older. Look no further for a great dog trainer who cares!
