We cannot say enough great things about our board and train experience with Lonestar K9!! We were recommended to them from our doggy daycare trainer when we wanted to invest in proper training for our new Border Collie puppy, Paddy. He will eventually be a land dog so we needed strong recall and wanted him to be well mannered to be in public, know how to settle, and not jump on people to greet them. We dropped off a slightly wild puppy who we couldn’t get to do more than sit, crate and pen. He pulled on the leash and tried to get into everything. We used to have to cover his crate with a blanket like a birdcage because he could not settle if we were in the room. The videos and photos we received along the way helped us not miss him too much, but observe the commands and body language we needed to learn to continue the training at home. We also saw his tremendous growth throughout the program. Jalen and Jen were amazing working with him, especially impressive with the distractions they trained him through. When it was coming time to pick him up Shiloh contacted us to let us know his trainers thought they could use one more week with him to be very strong in his commands and recall and off leash training. This was offered to us at no extra cost, just the recognition that they deliver what they promise and take the extra time with dogs like Paddy who are a little less confident and young enough to need more reinforcement. We really appreciated their transparency on that communication without an extra cost to us to get the deliverables promised in the package. We received about an hour and a half take home lesson with Jalen where we could ask any questions, see her run through his commands, practice them with him ourselves and full instruction in everything we got to take home. We did not feel rushed to take him home, we had all the time to ask our questions and practice with him while Jalen gave us really helpful feedback in our body language and handling of Paddy. We received his prong collar, e-collar, slip leash, and a raised place bed in our take home package—which was way more than we were expecting and very much appreciated! We were afraid he would not remember us but he was overjoyed to see us and our bond was still there right away. He remembered home, his toys, our whole family who was overjoyed to have him back home. His raised “place” bed became his new favorite spot as soon as we assembled it, and even though we gave him his release word he stayed out and took a great nap! We have two follow up sessions where the trainers can come to us or meet us in public with him to practice more work with him and get professional feedback and know we can reach out with questions at any time for the duration of his life—which we hope is very long! I would not hesitate to send your pup to Lonestar K9 to invest in the well mannered dog you want to have for life. He has grown in confidence and commands and know that this will strengthen our bond even further as dog and family. I fully recommend their services and really appreciate the growth they have given our Paddy!
