Love Ur K9 Training

Where do I even begin? Would it be dramatic to say Toya, Kevin, and Nick at Love Ur K9 Pet Training changed our lives? No. No it would not. We have a 6 year old mini-dachshund named Snooki. In retrospect, we'd have named her "Serenity" if we knew she'd live up to her name. Because she's both a stubborn dachshund, and a pandemic puppy, combined with me not having strong enough boundaries, she quickly became the dictator of the house. We could not leave her home alone because of intense separation anxiety, and when we'd take her with us places, she was great until anyone made eye contact with her -- and then, she'd go full Jersey Shore on them. I was spending thousands a month on dog sitters because anytime I needed to even run errands for an hour, I needed someone to be at home with her. Enter Love Ur K9. Toya and Kevin gave us hope that you can teach an old dog new tricks, but more importantly, you can teach an old human new tricks to be a strong leader as well. Snooki completed her month long training program and wasn't quite where Toya and Kevin wanted her to be-- so they enrolled her as a "5th week senior!" at no extra charge, which was above and beyond. She now goes for ongoing daycare/training twice a week to maintain the progress. The icing on the cake is the fact that they include home visits in their program. Toya actually came to our house, reconfigured the set up of where we had Snooki's crate, and walked us through various scenarios of how to handle people coming to the door, etc. The real life, hand-on, practical training was invaluable. Add to that, their incredible employee, Nick, who might actually be an angel walking among us. He is the kindest, gentlest, and most intuitive soul I've ever met. Snooki is obsessed with him and he has become another member of our family now as well. We could not be more grateful to have found Love Ur K9. I would encourage anyone who is looking to bring their dog a sense of peace to work with them. They are the real deal.

We had a great experience working with Toya at Love Ur K9. We came to Toya specifically to prepare our task-trained service dog, Memphis, for air travel. She helped get him comfortable with the expectations around airports, airplanes, and proper handling while traveling. Toya was professional, patient, and very good with Memphis. He really enjoyed working with her and responded to her direction extremely well. One thing I especially appreciated was her training style. She was never aggressive or rough with Memphis, and I was impressed by how effectively she was able to work with him without relying on treats. Her approach was calm and confident, and Memphis clearly trusted her. She also did a great job training us. Toya taught us the proper commands, handling techniques, and positioning to help make flying with Memphis as smooth and comfortable as possible. We came away from the experience feeling much more confident and prepared to travel with him. We are very grateful to Toya for the time and care she put into working with Memphis and with us. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and thoughtful dog trainer.

Finding LoveUrK9 has been such a game changer for me as a dog mom with a very social, very large pup. One of my favorite things about their daycare is how calm it is—you walk in and it’s actually quiet, not a room full of chaotic barking dogs. Phil gets to have a blast while learning better manners with other dogs, and he always comes home happy and tired. The entire staff is friendly and, most importantly, they’re trainers, so I completely trust the people caring for him. We also just started their Saturday group classes, and after one session I was genuinely impressed by how much they taught me about working with Phil in busy environments like the Strand. Phil loves it, I trust them, and we’re both learning along the way. Couldn’t recommend LoveUrK9 more!

My puppy and I love this place so much!! We completed the 4 week training, and we are so sad it’s over because my pup had so much fun. We will continue to come to Saturday group classes even after graduation, and will definitely be using their daycare services as needed! Could not recommend enough. They go above and beyond, and were not only a huge help to my puppy, but they taught me so much as well as a first time dog parent
