Update: we just had our second dog go through training and he is a new dog! He is about 8 months old and it has really helped with the puppy stage. It’s been awesome to see our dogs work together and it not be sheer chaos lol. Jen’s training has changed our dogs life. We got our Aussie during Covid and no matter how hard we tried working with her we just could not get her energy channeled or focused in a meaningful way. Roux was *decent* at best in that she could be left out of her kennel when we left, she wouldn’t chew things up, didn’t have accidents in the house but that was about it. Her high energy and stubborn attitude made it so hard to get her to focus and learn. Jen worked WONDERS. My husband jokes that Jen hypnotized our dog because her focus and confidence in a short 3 week period was such a drastic change from our former crackhead energy girl. The foundation Jen laid and system she uses were easy for us to learn and pick up on which has made it much more easy for us to continue training at home. Jen was easy to communicate with and did a great job refining our dog while still allowing her to have her goofy personality. We are so thankful for Lucky Star!!

Jen is an amazing trainer. She did an amazing job training our six months old rescue for 30 days. My dog was hyper and won’t listen to any commands that we trained. After Jen’s intensive training, he came home so much calmer and learnt multiple obedience commands, and these are advanced commands, which I was not expected. I am now able to walk my dog without having a war with him. He hangs out with us in the living room at his own place without bothering us. It is truly a life-changing investment. If you are like us working five days with not a lot of time to train your dog, Jen is the person to go to. She gives you ahead start of owning a dog and our commitment is to follow through what was taught after the training. She also gives you consistent updates on training progression and provide a post boarding training with us on how to carry on. I highly recommend Jen and will return for other services that she offers including boarding

Working with Jennifer has been an absolute game-changer for both me and my Malinois. We learned about Lucky Star Dog Training from our neighbor who had their dog trained by Jen 5+ years ago. We’ve always referred to our neighbor’s dog as a soldier given its incredible level of obedience. We recently adopted a malinois/shepherd mix puppy. She took pretty quickly to the basics - sit/down/stay/paw, but as she grew she was becoming more reactive, walks were frustrating with constant pulling, etc. We wanted to take things to the next level so, given our neighbor’s experience with Jen, we enrolled our dog into Jen’s 3 week board-and-train program at roughly 6 months of age. With training complete, our dog is a new dog. The reactivity is gone, she’s much more calm, she listens upon initial command, etc. As an example, she can sit in our front yard on her “place” while little kids are playing/running around, delivery trucks and workers are coming and going, and she sits calmly just observing everything. Second, if you’ve never had a dog that can “heel” properly on a walk, it’s life changing. Walks have gone from a state of constant pulling to the dog now dragging her own leash on the ground while she heels at our side the whole way. Reactivity towards passing dogs or any other past trigger is gone. Lastly, it’s worth noting that, as the owner, you must expect and be able to put in the time after training is complete so as to keep reinforcing the concepts that your dog was taught. Jen does a great job giving you the information and tools needed to be successful in that effort, but you must follow through. All in all, we couldn’t be happier and would undoubtedly recommend Lucky Star Dog Training to those looking to create a well rounded level of obedience for their dog.

Jen is truly a magician. We signed up for the three-week board and train program because our incredible rescue pup, Charli, was both too smart and too stubborn for her own good. Every command, every serious moment—she turned them all into a game. We adore her goofy personality, but the reality was that her not listening could have life-or-death consequences. If the front door was accidentally left open, there was zero chance she’d stop before running into the street. If she got her paws on a cooked turkey, yelling drop it would have only made her swallow it faster. Thanks to Jen, our relationship with Charli has completely transformed—and it’s nothing short of amazing. Ironically, we sought more control, but what we ended up with is a dog who now has more freedom than most. We walk with confidence, whether she’s on or off-leash. We can take her on adventures without stress. And most importantly, we’re no longer spending our days frustrated or repeating commands she ignores. She understands us now, and in turn, she gets to truly enjoy life. We have our dream dog, and it’s all because of Jen.
