I've been training with him for almost a year, working through everything from basic/advanced obedience, to bird introduction and upland hunting skills. The difference in my dog has been remarkable. She has gained confidence, has much better manners at home, and I'm seeing consistent improvement in every aspect of her training and hunting abilities. We sent our 10 month old Labrador to work with Paul for 7 weeks to cover obedience and introduction to hunting. He went above and beyond what we expected and delivered us a dog that is a pleasure in the home and out in the field. Prior to working with Paul, we explored some local weekly classes, books, and online content to educate ourselves on a variety of methods to train her and address her unwanted behaviors (barking, jumping, over excitement around new people and dogs). Things were progressing but regressions in the behavior were common and frustrating. We felt like we were living our lives around her vs her living hers around us. We also wanted to teach her to hunt but lacked resources, education, experience, birds, and space to train on. This led us to look around for a board and train facility with a program aimed at both obedience and hunting. Our initial conversation with Paul regarding our goals along with his methods left no question unanswered or detail left out. We went in with confidence that Paul would treat our girl right and get her to be the companion we wanted. There was consistent back and forth between us to make sure he met us where we were on our needs and was pursuing her training in ways that would transition into and be compatible with our lives. He made sure we knew what realistic goals were for her with her age and abilities. We were invited to visit multiple times to both witness her progress and participate in training. He guided us through the method he uses, observed and corrected our behaviors with her, and was open to adjusting what skills to teach her while she was there. Her progress was evident even after just one week. During the training we received consistent feedback on her progress accompanied by pictures and videos. Paul was always willing to adjust and work to address our goals. For example, I had a question about the value of sit to flush with her and we had a long conversation about its purpose, its relation to how necessary it was for her, when and how to train it, and where in the process of her learning it would be appropriate to teach it. We decided to pursue more important skills first during our 7 weeks, mainly force fetch, to get her ready to hunt. He was willing to adjust his course, but took the extra time to make sure we were on the same page and we understood the pros and cons. Our dog has transitioned seamlessly back into our home with two rambunctious young boys. While he addressed her behavioral tendencies we had concerns with and gave her purpose as a hunting dog, he gave us the tools and training to help her succeed at home with us.

Paul is amazing with our 5 month old puppy and we are really happy with his services. We got Atlas when he was 10 weeks old and started working with Paul when he was 12 weeks old. We just got him back after he stayed with Paul and his wife for 2 weeks for board and train and he is listening a lot better!! He is still puppy and still has his craziness but even after a few hours there is a huge difference. Paul is very understanding, patient, and straightforward with us. He has the best interest for us and Atlas to all succeed. He truly is an amazing trainer and I highly recommend him!!

We can't recommend Maine Point Kennels, Paul and Sinead enough! Although we live a bit of a distance away, Paul has been an incredible resource for our family and our pit mix. His wealth of knowledge and expert advice has made a world of difference as we train our dog to be more suitable for our growing family.
