MALS K9 Training & Sales

my 1 year old german shepard has been going here for a few months, i’m very impressed on how far she has come throughout her training. before attending training she was very wild and didn’t listen at all but now after a few months she has improved tremendously!! my mom and i also attended the hand gun/ tactical class, we both had a great time!! We really liked that we got to shoot at different targets at different distances throughout the course!! It was a very fun and safe class to attend!!

As someone who had never done any kind of environmental or firearm training, I’ll admit that I was scared to sign up for the beginner class. With the support of Mike Smiley and the other safety officers, I was able to see actual improvement in my abilities in a very short amount of time. At the start of the class, I was barely hitting any of the targets. By the end of the class, I was doing significantly better. I went from never holding or using a firearm in my life, to being able to consistently hit the target. To give a little bit of background, at the beginning of class, you learn things like CPR, applying a tourniquet and so on. Every student had a tourniquet placed on them so they could understand how it works and what it does. I had mine placed on my arm. After a couple of minutes, my heart began to race and I started to hyperventilate. I could not handle having the tourniquet on me any longer. When Mike realized this, he came over to me immediately and calmed me down as he took off the tourniquet. Even after the panic had passed, he still made a point to check in on me more than once. Along with the firearms course, I’ve been training my dog with him as well. Even though I’ve loved dogs my whole life, I’ve never learned how to properly train one. Because of Mike and Lori’s hard work and dedication, I’ve began to see my dog become more and more confident in herself. Before yesterday, Halo had never climbed stairs before. Yet she exuded complete confidence as she went up and down them. It was like she had done it a thousand times before. That’s all because of Mike and Lori. I can’t wait to see what she achieves next as we continue to learn from them!

I took both the basic and advanced firearm courses offered by MALS with my dad. Through these classes we learned about different firearms, ammunition types, tactical scenarios, and most importantly safety. The instructor (Mike) is very professional with a safety first mentality. The first day of the course was spent almost exclusively in the classroom with an emphasis on safety. I really appreciated Mike’s attention to detail and regard for everyone’s safety foremost which was demonstrated in the classroom portion of the class. Once we began our session’s at the range Mike continually promoted safety with phrases such as “keep your finger off the trigger” and “always keep your weapon down or down range.” Safety was the most important aspect of the class and the instructor made sure to remind everyone of that constantly. Besides learning about the topics mentioned above, this class also made me more comfortable and confident utilizing handguns and all firearms in general. All in all, this class was a great experience and I learned a ton of new information and acquired new experience. Most importantly, I got to spend lots of quality time with my dad and made a great friend in Mile. Highly recommend

I took MALS environmental tactical awareness course this passed May. I enjoyed every part of it. We spent the first part of the morning going over safety and walking through how things will go on the gun range before going out there. It had been a while since I held and shot a pistol. I was a little nervous. Mike and his team helped me feel calm, capable, and confident. They praised and encouraged everyone that was there. Mike took the safety of everyone in the class seriously. I’m glad I took the class and I had a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend taking the environmental tactical awareness course from Mike at MALS K9.
