Marcum K9 Obedience: Dog Training

Paige is a miniature Australian Shepherd that took classes at approximately 6 months old. She went there as a “wild dog” and came back a “lady”! She now follows commands: No, Place, Sit, Down & Break. She is well mannered and a joy to have at home and to take places. She now walks well on leash and off leash. She now has “automatic sit” when at a door and when we stop to cross a street! She turned out absolutely wonderful! She completed the 14 day residential training program with Marcum. The young lady who trained her provided regular updates during her training and even provided photos. Paige also has a training collar that she wears. This collar is used to “only reinforce” skills she has been taught and may need a very mild nudge to perform. The collars offer “Tone” & “Mild Shock” to reinforce. The shock needs only to be enough to redirect the dogs behavior and no more. Paige responds to the tone quickly and immediately ceases unwanted behaviors. I am not a huge proponent of the shock feature, but used correctly to protect your pet may mean the difference between harm/injury or a fun belly rub and playing in the leaves! I sent my dog here to be trained as a service dog and I could not be happier. My dog came back a completely different dog! Allison is extremely knowledgeable and very good with my dog. Marcum K9 is THE best and deserves more than 5 Stars! I brought my 3-year-old German Shepard, Onyx, for 20-day board and train and couldn’t be happier with the difference it made. I rescued Onyx over a year ago from a shelter and he was very aggressive towards other dogs/people. I tried reactive dog training, medication and nothing worked. I met with different trainers about helping me with Onyx and nothing seemed to be as hands on as Marcum K9. Ally gave me a day by day on what they would work with and what I should expect at the end of the 20 days. I also received photos/videos of his progress every day, so I knew he was in amazing hands. Ally was so patient with all the questions my family and I had and how to give Onyx more confidence at home instead of coming across aggressive. Onyx is now back at home and a 100% more confident/happy dog than before. I am so thankful to Marcum K9 for their help and highly recommend them!!

We took our two doodles (Wes a bernadoodle and Molly a mini golden doodle, ea 2.5 yo) to Marcum and are so happy we did. Previously Wes would knock our toddler over and jump on guests while Molly was always in trouble for whining, barking, chewing, nipping, etc. They weren’t necessarily problem dogs but their behaviors were less than desirable and drove my husband and I crazy. After 10 days of board and train we are amazed at the changes we’ve seen in their behaviors but most importantly our ability to control and redirect their behaviors. We are working really hard to carry out everything Marcum taught our dogs and us as their owners. We continue to see huge improvements everyday. Tonight I was able to take both dogs for a walk with a loose leash without issues. Highly recommend Marcum K9!
