Master's Way Dog Training

My family and I took our dog Mason there for training. This is now our second dog we have taken to see Rick! 15 years ago he trained our first dog Rudy and now he’s trained our 2nd dog. We saw the amazing work he did with our first dog and we knew we would be making the right choice by sending Mason there. We have noticed a great change in Mason based on the way he walks and the way his behavior is in the house. Mason enjoyed his presence and always got excited to see him. After each session you could see progress in him and at the end it was truly rewarding seeing how Mason has changed. Highly recommend Rick and his training skills he is very knowledgeable and very helpful!

I’m writing this updated review after a couple of years, as I feel my original feedback did not fully reflect my honest experience. Reflecting on my time with Rick, the owner of Master's Way, I now recognize some concerns that I initially overlooked. One of the first issues was a lack of transparency during the initial consultation. The use of a choke collar was never mentioned until I had already committed and arrived for the first training session, despite having attended a preliminary appointment beforehand. I strongly believe this is something that should be clearly communicated upfront. While I take full responsibility for choosing to proceed despite my reservations, I feel that the training approach may have had unintended negative effects. Over time, I noticed signs of increased stress in my dog, and I believe the methods may have contributed to a decline in his behavior rather than improvement. That said, Rick is a no-nonsense, results-driven trainer who holds both owners and dogs accountable. He is highly knowledgeable and has a deep understanding of canine behavior, which he works hard to communicate to his clients. If you are comfortable with tools like the prong or choke collar and prefer a very structured, firm approach, Rick may be a great fit for you. One thing to note is that Rick requests reviews at the conclusion of the five-session program, which can often reflect the immediate confidence or relief owners feel at the end of training, rather than long-term outcomes. This review reflects my personal experience and perspective, and I understand that others may have had different results.

We just completed the dog training with Mastersway Dog Training. My first experience was 4 years ago. My dog STILL listens and knows everything he learned on day 1. Once he (AND I) completed the training he never had to go back or go to any other trainers. We got another dog earlier this year and decided to take her, she responded just as well! This was by far the best dog training experience. You can tell that Rick takes pride in his work and cares about these dogs. It is truly unbelievable to watch. We couldn’t be happier with Mastersway. If you take it serious like I did you will not have any regrets. Thank you!
