McCreary K-9 Facility

Disappointed with a recent vacation boarding. We boarded our AKC long haired GSD with MK9 early Nov. She stayed a total of 7 nights/8 days as we were going out of the country. I paid extra for obedience training as well as grooming (bath, brushout, nail trim). I chose MK9 because of their reviews/FB posts and they also offered training (for an extra fee) while boarding. From day one, I should have known it would not end well. As we were going out of the country the next day, I had a full day planned and drop off would be that afternoon for our GSD. Having my day packed with errands, I was totally thrown off that morning by a text from the owner asking if I was still bringing her by since I missed the drop off window. They apparently have specific drop off window that I was not made aware of. Halfway to my 2nd stop, I had to turn around to go pack her up. While getting ready to walk out the door with her, I get another text saying it would now be 30mins-hr later. I would have had time to run my 2nd errand had I known this earlier. Upon arrival, no one was there. Within a few mins the owner showed up. We got our pet inside, got everything noted that needed to be done and I was asked to pay. Never before had I paid for boarding services prior to pickup. All I had on me was a credit card (I dont carry large sums of cash on my person). They charge a fee to use a credit card. Had I known I would have to pay up front, I could have brought cash. Fast forward to pickup day.... I text the owner to double check on pick up times since I wasnt made aware of drop off times. We scheduled pickup at noon. We arrived at 1145 to find the "closed" sign up. Messaged the owner again and a young girl unlocked the door. Apparently, her mother was grooming our GSD. We went inside and the lady brought our dog out WET! She was also pulling on the leash which was an area I had requested she receive training. She was not dry nor brushed out. I informed her she had to be brushed out or she would mat up. We waited another 45 mins-1 hr and she was still damp and smelled like a wet dog when brought out. We discovered the next day that the lady still had not brushed her out completely. Our GSD had matted hair on her lower back as well as down her back legs. We have yet to get all of the mats out. Hoping we dont have to shave her in those areas. She also is still pulling on the leash. I did not expect a miracle; however, I expected to know what she was trained on which the lady at pickup could not tell me and the owner was not there (he did the training from what I was told). I cannot recommend this facility for grooming at all. They may be great with training (not during short term boarding) but grooming, they are not. Especially for long haired dogs. And they need to communicate better with their clientele of their operating processes.
