If that's not possible, another option for you is to be coached online by one of our trainers so that you can learn how to train your own dog. Hi Barb, thank you for reaching out. Saddly, all shelters and rescues seem overcrowded at this time. We are constantly looking our for qualifying dogs in local shelters and had reached out to Hamilton County Shelter as well. We would be happy to pull dogs that meed our criteria from them.

Best is to contact a guide dog organisation. We train service dogs for other disabilities but not the type that your father needs. Most guide dogs are provided free of charge. If you Google Guide Dog, you should have several organizations pop up. Best of luck!

He does not need to be fixed in order to be trained, no. And yes, Medical Mutts trains for panic attacks and psychiatric conditions and could probably train a few things like retrieving your inhaler for asthma.

We don't however provide trained pit-bulls as service dogs. Hi Daniel, we have trained a dog for Vazovagal Syncope episodes and he is alerting great. That being said, unlike for diabetes or seizures, where we know there is a scent associated to the episodes, we don't have any proof that there is a specific scent associated with this condition. If there is a scent, we also don't know if that's the case for every person. If you do release a scpecific scent before an epidose, then we could definetely train a dog to alert you. If not, then we would be limited to training the dog to react once you have an eposode. The initial assessment of a dog you already have is $90. The professionals at Medical Mutts will meet with you, in a public place, to assess if your dog is a viable candidate for Service Animal training. They will also discuss various options available for training & the corresponding fees.

They are CPDT certified and the owner has a PhD in animal behavior. All the training is with Positive Reinforcement only, our trainers know how to encourage the dogs to offer behaviors, increase their confidence and desire to work. Justina Im currently training a dog for my 3 yr old autistic daughter who has some sensory issues. Ths dog is trained to respond to your cues but can later be soley your childs dog

We originally wanted an emotional support dog. Training the dog ourselves allowed us to get a service dog for the same price and we can take anywhere. I believe they only supply service dogs fully trained that they aquire but i could be mistaken. Calling them is the easiest way!
