Miller Heights K9 Academy

I brought my puppy there for only 1 day so far and I am already so happy I found Miller Heights K9 academy. Lindsay is so calm and has high expectations for her pups and dogs. She is very upfront about everything and I can’t wait for more training sessions along with individual and group day care days! Definitely recommend Miller Heights over any other day care! Smaller groups and more structure :)

We used Miller Heights for almost 3 months for day training, daycare, one-on-one sessions, and boarding. At first, things were mostly positive. As new puppy owners, Lindsay answered a lot of our questions and gave us advice that was helpful, so we felt good about bringing our puppy here. Over time though, communication became a consistent issue. Scheduling was often confusing, and we regularly had to follow up ourselves to confirm dates or figure out what was going on. Training was also frustrating. Lindsay clearly knows dogs, but communication and organization were lacking. The one-on-one sessions felt pretty disorganized, and we often left confused about what exactly our puppy was working on or what progress she was making. We ended up extending training because we didn’t feel like things were being communicated clearly or that we were getting what was advertised. Boarding is where we really started having concerns. We had boarded our puppy for two separate 2-night stays. After the first stay, she came home with two uneaten meals and nobody mentioned it. We only found out after getting home and checking her bag ourselves. The most recent 2-night stay was the final straw. Another meal wasn’t fed, and communication around our concerns was disappointing. Our puppy is only 5 months old, so attentive care and communication matter a lot to us. The attached text messages speak for themselves. Also important to note—this was the only time we ever asked to pick our puppy up outside of normal pickup hours during the entire time we used their services. Unfortunately, after this experience, we won’t be returning. EDIT: I appreciate your response and wanted to clarify a few things. First, regarding scheduling, one simple solution would be making it clearer on your website that daycare operates more like a monthly membership with clients committing to consistent days each week rather than flexible drop-in scheduling. That would have avoided confusion from the start. Additionally, I would consider removing or clarifying the statement about "reduced rates for dogs who completed our training program," as that was not what we experienced. Second, I want to clarify that I was not frustrated about waiting on e-collar training. I understand every dog progresses differently, and I fully agreed that Winnie should master the basics first. My frustration was with the lack of structure and communication around training. The way services are presented on your website felt much more structured than what we experienced. As first-time puppy owners, clearer guidance—whether through handouts, written plans, or simply better communication about what Winnie was working on each week—would have been very helpful and prevented a lot of confusion. As for the comment about my wife, it is highly unprofessional to publicly share distorted versions of private training sessions in a review reply. Our feedback was about the business’s overall communication and structure. Any challenge during training was a direct result of the business's lack of clear instruction, not our willingness to learn. Regarding boarding and meals, my concern was never that a puppy might skip a meal. I understand that can happen. My concern was the lack of communication. If Winnie wasn’t eating, I would have appreciated being informed while she was in your care, along with context on how long she was given to eat and what was tried, rather than finding out after pickup.

We had an incredible experience with Miller Heights K9 Academy and their 4-week puppy development program for our puppy, Reggie. In just a few weeks, he built a strong foundation in social skills, desensitization, engagement, confidence, and problem-solving, along with crate and potty training. He also learned leash skills, recall, sit, down, place, stay, leave it, and polite greetings. What truly stood out was how quickly he generalized these skills! On his very first day home, we were already seeing everything come together. As a mom of a 6- and 3-year-old, having a puppy with this level of structure and training has made a huge difference in our day-to-day life. Watching how comfortable Reggie was working with Lindsey meant so much to us. We fully trust his well-being in their care and are so grateful for the foundation they’ve given him. We will absolutely continue using Miller Heights for daycare and boarding—forever customers here!

I recommend Lindsay to everyone I know! She was able to help Larry, a yellow lab, become the most attentive, well behaved dog! He now is able to recall successfully in any environment, checks in on his walks, listens so incredibly well on and off leash and of course still has fun while doing it! Plus we love that the daycare environment is small group play so the dogs not only get individual attention but they are matched with compatible playmates! I cannot recommend Miller Heights K9 academy and Lindsay enough, definitely bring your dogs here!!
