Mindful Training

We adopted two dogs in less than a month with vastly different personality needs, and Joshua was able to help us with individualized training for each of them. Artemis is very puppy-ish and people-shy, and Bo Dai is bold and liked to resource guard. Joshua was able to help us bring them both into a comfortable rhythm at home, mostly by teaching my husband and me how best to relate to them. We had two wonderful dogs previously (one passed from cancer, the other lived to a ripe old age), and we still learned so much from Joshua. He's patient, brings a gentle energy, and listens well before offering solutions, so the solutions are effective. Artemis was scared to go in the crate and not particularly food-motivated, and Joshua helped us over a few sessions to problem-solve how to get her to enter on her own and without stress. I didn't think it could be done, and I had to take pictures as proof to show my husband. Meanwhile, through this training, we discovered just how eager to please Bo Dai is, and he's taken to every command quickly, through the steps Joshua showed us. If you feel uncomfortable with the dog trainers who use force on the animals to get them to "submit," I can't recommend the joyful approach of Mindful Training enough. Not only has this training been effective, but it's strengthened the respect and understanding between us and the pups.

Joshua is extremely knowledgeable and patient and he offers excellent personalized support to address any specific training goals or concerns. I saw such improvement in Willow, but even more than that, I learned myself how to keep up and continue her training. I appreciate seeing the results while also seeing my dog continue to have her wonderful personality! I also appreciated that after our initial consultation, Joshua offered a conservatively priced training package and a more liberally priced training package and was fully transparent up front. I would absolutely recommend Joshua to anyone looking for excellent private training lessons!
