At MLK9 Dog Training, we start by teaching parents how to communicate with their pets using clear commands and rewarding good behavior. Our training methods are based on the science of learning theory and modern, humane dog training techniques. We use positive reinforcement as our primary method of increasing your dog's motivation to learn and to behave in a way that you like better than before. We also use "reward-based punishment," which means that if your dog does something wrong that you don't want him to do, you don't punish him , instead, you simply remove the reward for a short period until he learns not to do it anymore. Andy, Sam and the rest of the MLK9 team did an amazing job. Before we went to MLK9 our pup couldn’t be in public, too much energy and wanted to meet everyone. We wanted to be able to take her to grab drinks or dinner and have her with us. Now after the 4 week program Mable is incredible, so calm and focused in public and isn’t distracted by who or what’s around her. The MLK9 team was incredibly communicative when our dog was in training. We were out of town but Andy kept us informed through messages and weekly update videos. If you are in East Tennessee or the surrounding area and are looking for training your dog you need to reach out to Andy.

Great training! Andy and his team have been very professional, caring, and easy to communicate with. We just finished a board and train program with our dog, and can already see a huge difference! They have helped us understand how to be consistent in showing her what behaviors we want from her. It was really nice to have her boarded and trained while we were on vacation. Highly recommended!

I can’t say enough great things about Andy and the entire MLK9 team. Oakley completed their three-week board-and-train program for obedience and service dog training, and the experience exceeded my expectations. Leaving your dog with someone for three weeks is never easy, but the MLK9 team made me feel confident from the start. They genuinely care about the dogs they work with and treat them like family while still maintaining the structure and consistency needed for successful training. Oakley came home with a much stronger obedience foundation, better focus, and the skills we need to continue working toward her service dog goals. Just as importantly, they took the time to educate me so I understood how to maintain and build on everything she learned. The communication, professionalism, and dedication from Andy and his team were outstanding throughout the entire process. It’s clear they have a true passion for helping both dogs and their owners succeed. If you’re considering obedience training, behavior modification, or service dog training, I highly recommend MLK9. We have two mini schnauzers one is six years old and one is 14 months old. Andy transformed their behavior and made our life so much better and there is so much difference in their behavior! They are easier to handle and they know the commands we just have to make ourselves be consistent. Andy did a great job training us too, which is the secret to keeping them disciplined. I highly recommend MLK9 Dog Training! Andy and his associates are incredible to work with, very patient with us and loving with the dogs. I highly recommend them.
