My Life Unleashed Dog Training & Animal Assisted Therapy

We contacted Lisa for distraction training for our mini Berniedoodle Merlin. At 76 lbs he is a very powerful dog that needed a focused training when outside. He was boarded with Lisa for 4 weeks to achieve our goals of walking loose leashed & also to prevent his excitement & jumping when visitors come to the house. We are super pleased upon receiving Merlin back where he is totally comfortable with loose leash walking and the Place command she taught him to go to his day bed so he is specifically trained to be comfortable when people now come to our door. We are seniors who love our dogs as a huge part of our family are now so happy that Merlin is very well behaved when we go out. We are excited to continue his ongoing training with Lisa to ultimately get Merlin to Service dog standard and are very confident Lisa will achieve that. On Thanksgiving, I received a gift that would quietly, but profoundly, change my life—my service dog, Zip. My journey to that moment was not a straight path. Like many, I’ve faced personal challenges that, over time, left an impact deeper than I was willing to acknowledge. I’ve always believed in pushing forward, making the most of life’s lessons, and finding purpose through adversity. Dogs had always been part of my life—loyal companions, steady and forgiving. But this experience would prove to be something entirely different. After the loss of my previous dog, and while navigating the lingering effects of PTSD, I found myself carrying a weight that I had grown used to—but had not truly addressed. Through conversations with my daughter, Lisa, I began to understand that a service dog could offer more than companionship—it could provide stability, awareness, and support in ways I hadn’t considered. Accepting that wasn’t easy. Like many people, there’s a quiet resistance to acknowledging you might need help. But I came to realize that recognizing a challenge is not weakness—it’s wisdom. In many ways, Zip became my “cane”—a support introduced at the right time, before things could decline further. What makes this journey even more meaningful is witnessing Lisa’s work firsthand. As her father, I’ve watched her dedicate herself to training service dogs with remarkable precision, patience, and intuition. I’ve seen her take young, unshaped puppies and develop them into focused, reliable partners—each matched carefully to the person they are meant to serve. What she does goes far beyond training; it’s a calling. Zip was one of those dogs. For over a year, I observed his training, never imagining he would one day be mine. I saw his discipline, his intensity, and his personality—quirky, driven, and deeply intuitive. When Lisa told me he could be the right match for me, I trusted her—not just as my daughter, but as a professional whose instincts I’ve come to respect. From that point forward, everything changed. Transitioning from observer to handler was both humbling and transformative. Zip isn’t simply there when I call—he is trained to recognize what I need, often before I do. That level of awareness is difficult to explain, but impossible to ignore once experienced. It’s not just a bond—it’s a partnership built on trust, consistency, and purpose. Since coming into my life, Zip has been by my side through travel, work, and daily routines—always steady, always attentive. And while he continues to support me, he’s also challenged me to grow. He’s taught me patience, presence, and the importance of reciprocating the same dedication he gives so freely. What Lisa has created through her work is something truly special. She has an extraordinary ability to see potential early, to nurture it with intention, and to place each dog where it will make the greatest impact. It’s not just skill—it’s intuition, compassion, and commitment. I can say, without hesitation, that this experience has changed my life—and continues to do so in ways I’m still discovering. More than anything, I’m grateful—not only for Zip, but for the journey that led me here, and for Lisa’s guidance along the way. In helping others, she’s made a lasting difference in my life as well. And for that, I will always be thankful.

I attended the service dog training seminar hosted by Lisa with My Life Unleashed and Lance with Freelance Dog Training, and I brought my dog Mor to participate. The seminar focused heavily on task training, which I really appreciated. It was not surface level information. They broke down how to teach, proof, and refine tasks in a way that actually builds reliability and clarity. Being able to work Mor during the seminar made it even more valuable. I got to troubleshoot in real time, adjust my mechanics, and see how small changes in timing and communication impacted her performance. That kind of hands on feedback is huge. I have worked with Lisa since around May and she has been such a blessing for me. I have struggled with anxiety and depression my entire life and it has been a battle in my mind every day. I was supposed to get my dog (Milo) in November but after my latest attempt to take my life lisa truly stepped up and worked really hard for me to get him September 28th. She then spent the entire week at a hotel nearby and was on time to everything including school. As you can imagine going to highschool with a service dog wasn’t easy and very scary but Lisa calmed my nerves and now I feel so very confident to go to school or in public with him. I don’t even know how to express my gratefulness for Lisa. I strongly believe Milo and Lisa have giving me another chance to be successful at life. I love Milo so much and I can for once see my future with Milo is it looks so bright. I couldn’t ask for a better person to train my dog and I’m forever grateful for Lisa and Milo for giving me another chance to live a happy life.
