Naked Dog Training

We came to Naked dog for help with our rescue dog. He became increasingly aggressive with others after we adopted him. Our experiences with our previous dogs, didn't really help us. Neither did the first trainer that we tried. Now we have a much better and more relaxed companion. In addition, we have the tools to help us address any lingering issues and also to put us more at ease with his socialization. Interactions with all the staff that worked with our dog were fabulous. Addison worked with him primarily and built his confidence from day one. Also worth noting were Eli and Little John. Both were willing to work through his aggression with patience and professionalism. Included in the cost was passing on the obedience and aggressive training to us. This is really key for the training to work and to stick. A big plus was Naked Dog's willingness to continue the training until our dog and we were ready to try it on our own with the no cost safety net of additional training sessions should we need it.

We have used K9 for training with multiple dogs, we have nothing but great things to say. Our puppy we started him in 1:1 training as soon as we could, progressed him into their K9 camp and now he goes to daycare there! The staff is all truly amazing! Our dog LOVES to go there and see his “friends”. We fully trust them with our ‘fur baby’ and I can’t recommend them enough! They also now use an app to set up daycare days and it’s so easy to use which also makes it so we can set it up whenever and wherever which is so helpful! Can’t say enough great things about them!

My husband and I are both veterinarians, and John has been a client of ours for over 15 years. Early on, we became impressed with his training philosophy and results, and over time we became clients ourselves. In the past 15 years, John has trained six of our dogs, including our current dog, Ludlow. We have utilized both his board-and-train program and day school, and we have referred hundreds of our own clients and friends to him. Over the years, we have also become friends with both John and Ruth through our shared love of dogs. What has always stood out to us is how deeply John cares about the dogs in his program and the people who work for him. His integrity, professionalism, and commitment to both animal welfare and his staff are admirable. One reviewer mentioned “burn marks” from electronic training collars, and I thought it might be helpful to clarify what most likely occurred. It is understandably stressful anytime you bring your dog to the veterinarian, and many owners worry that electronic or invisible fence collars may cause harm. These concerns are common, but true burn injuries from these collars are not medically accurate. What can occur are contact or pressure sores, which are often round and therefore mistaken for burns. These sores typically result from prolonged contact in one area—hence the importance of rotating collar placement every 3–4 hours—or from moisture trapped between the collar and skin, which can lead to bacterial infections commonly known as hot spots. Some dogs are simply more sensitive than others. Our Weimaraner, for example, has very sensitive skin, and John helped us select different contact points for him than we use for our other dogs. Even with education and experience, mistakes can happen. Our dog is now 11 years old and has had no further issues. When our dogs are at John’s facility for the day, collars are removed after each training session to allow the skin to breathe, which is even better than continuous wear. It is difficult for us to imagine a situation at Naked Dog Training where a collar would be left on incorrectly for an extended period, but even if a mistake were to occur, this type of skin irritation is easily treated. Without Naked Dog Training, our dogs would not have the freedom to safely enjoy so many amazing places. I love showing them off, and people constantly comment on how relaxed, well-behaved, and happy they are. I wish I could take more credit—but that truly belongs to John.

My wife and I were looking to get our new pup trained because he was an extreme handful. In our search we came across The Naked Dog Training. After meeting with John, we decided to trust him and his team with our baby. After a couple months, we had the most well trained puppy we've ever had. So much so that when we got our second puppy we signed him up right away. John knows what he's doing and his team (Addison and Eli) were amazing! They always took care of our little guys and showed them so much love during their training. Not only that, but they make sure that you know exactly how to handle any situation and that you understand all of the commands the pups have learned. I highly recommend The Naked Dog Training for anyone who's looking to get their puppies trained properly. You will not be disappointed!

If I could give this establishment less than one, I would. John and his mostly incompetent team almost killed my dog. My dog was rushed to the emergency vet with e-collar burns on his neck and now suffers from permanent scarring and permanent hair loss. John explained that he wanted to use "a method that he doesn't usually use," but didn't say that it would involve animal abuse. John oh so kindly offered to cover the vet bills and refund the training as well as offered free training moving forward. No one in their right mind would ever take their animal back to relive that traumatizing abuse. John treats his wife and staff like servants to him in front of customers and can be heard yelling at staff behind closed doors. This place is disgusting. If you care about your animal, go to someone reputable. If he doesn't like your breed of dog, he's sure to let you know through his actions. Please read the contract that you sign before training because it does not allow for a lawsuit, only mediation.
