Naked Dog Training

I've been a dog lover my whole life, particularly large breeds. Even though they are difficult to control. I found that my lack of understanding of how to control them started to become a liability. Especially with my last dog Buck. In general I just didn't enjoy them the way I do now since working with John Whittaker and his team. Now walking my dog is a real pleasure. Many people that have seen Hawk and I end up going to Naked Dog Training even though we are 2 1/2 hours away in Avon CT.

Sharing an update in Oct 2025 - it's been almost 6 years since John's team helped our pup. The life-changing behavior improvement lasts to this day, and obedience training aspect is alive and well too! Naked Dog training program produced a stable transformation beyond of what we even hoped for. I remember thinking before we got there that we may not be able to keep our beloved puppy (fear, anxiety, with related to stress chronic GI upset, we literally could not leave her home alone at all). Now she is still not loving being alone, but she goes to sleep, self soothes or people-watching through the window when we are away. When I left our anxious pup there for boarding+training, my heart was breaking and I was so relived to see her training videos where she were so happy - calm, alert, focused on her trainer (you can see training videos on their website btw). I could not believe my eyes and shortly - the results. I am also so happy to see that now Naked Dog also offers very affordable classes for adopted from shelters dogs with various issues to help them adjust and enjoy their new life. Thank you for this service! 2021 - John and the team helped our pup with fears and anxieties recover. The results were amazing - our dog is a lot more confident and calms herself down. It improved both our pup and our family quality of life a lot! We are very thankful :)

We had a fantastic experience with NakedDog Training. We recently had a baby and wanted to enroll our 1.5 year old dog Rocky in a program to help with manners and obedience. From speaking with Ruth and John, both my husband and I knew we found an excellent program for our dog. We did the day school option for 3 weeks. The trainers were excellent. They were able to really engage with us and teach us the best ways to handling our dog and really showed love to Rocky as well. It was easy to communicate with John and the team and they implemented weekly updates so we could stay in touch on Rocky’s progress. We would highly recommend this program.

Our 4 1/2 year old GSP was showing signs of aggression due to his anxiety. The training he and our family received at Naked Dog Training was truly life changing for all of us. We now have a dog that can accept new people into our home, doesn’t bark at all anymore when people or delivery trucks go by and does well with all his commands including off leash recall. When I first reached out, Ruth listened to my story with a compassionate ear. We met with the owner, John shortly after and together we came up with a program that would be a good fit for our dog and our family. We chose to board him during the first part of this process for 5 weeks. He was in a home setting with Marney who was loving and communicated with us the whole time. The trainers, Addison, Lil’John, and Eli were professional and compassionate. They took the time to answer any questions or concerns we had. Addison always answered my texts in a timely manner with full details. The weekly follow up training sessions for us all were easy to schedule. The feedback was helpful and allowed us to practice using the tools and commands we learned in training. We are so happy with our decision and the outcome. Thank you Naked Dog Training!

We had a great experience with Naked Dog Training. Our German Shepherd< Charlie had aggression issues after being attacked as a puppy. Nick did an amazing job, and John, Addison and Eli were all incredibly supportive. We've seen a remarkable change in Charlie_ she is much more tolerant and hasn't lunged at anyone since we got her back. We know its a work in progress, but we're so happy with her progress. We highly recommend them !!!
