Nate Dog Training

Nate was referred to me through a friend and Im so grateful I found him! I have a one year old maltipoo who thinks he runs the house and protects me at all costs. It was embarrassing taking him for walks because he growled and barked at everything. I was feeling lost and discouraged. Nate taught me to control the leash, the house, and the barking and truly become his leader. Ive been able to build a healthy relationship with my dog and now we go for walks every day, have stopped the “velcro” relationship, and helped him relax and enjoy being at home. Can’t recommend Nate enough!

We originally reached out to Nate because our Australian Shepherd, Captain, struggled with dog reactivity. Walks were stressful, and I never would have considered taking him into a place like PetSmart because I was so worried about how he’d react. One of the things I appreciated most was that Nate brought his own dogs to our sessions. It gave Captain the opportunity to work around dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities in a safe, controlled environment. We learned how to properly handle Captain on leash, keep his focus on me instead of fixating on other dogs, and work through situations with me as his leader instead of trying to avoid them. We also worked on Captain’s barking at the TV, and he’s made incredible progress there too. One of our sessions was at PetSmart, which felt impossible just two months earlier. Now, Captain goes to PetSmart or Petco with me a couple of times a month, walks calmly past other dogs, and no longer loses his mind when he sees one. The difference has honestly been huge. The group sessions were also incredibly valuable. They taught Captain how to stay calm while other dogs were moving around, barking, and training nearby. The exposure to so many different dogs and environments helped build his confidence and self-control in a way that individual sessions alone couldn’t. Captain has come such a long way, and Nate played a huge role in getting us there. I can’t recommend him enough. We’ll definitely be booking more group sessions to keep building on everything Captain has learned. 10/10 recommend!

I adopted a 5 year old german shepherd mix who immediately showed signs of reactivity. I tried to work through it on my own for a couple months but ultimately decided to start looking for trainers in the area. After reading reviews and speaking with Nate, I knew he was the right choice. In the last two months, both myself and my dog have completely changed for the better. I have learned how to be a better leader for my dog and she drastically improved overall. Walks aren't stressful, my dog is happier, and her reactivity has decreased significantly. We will continue using the tools and techniques Nate has taught us, and I couldn't recommend him more.
