Dear Karen, Thank you for your feedback. However, as you have not been a client of ours, we kindly ask that reviews be based on direct experience with our services. Your claim that no reputable trainers use electronic collars is inaccurate. Many respected, professional trainers incorporate these tools effectively. As balanced trainers, we are transparent about our methods, including the use of e-collars, which is clearly stated on our website. For clients who prefer not to use e-collars, we offer lesson packages without them or respect their choice to train with a different company. Additionally, your statement that we do not use positive reinforcement is incorrect. We teach all new behaviors and commands using positive reinforcement, including treats, praise, and play. Here are a few snippets from our lesson 1 notes. We cannot leave a picture in the reply to show you so a copy and paste from our notes: -Phase 1 Teach (show & then tell) – we use shaping and lures with high rate of reinforcement to teach the dog behaviors and commands and establish enthusiastic response to verbal cues. -Marker training uses words or sounds to communicate to the dog that they are doing something correctly or incorrectly. -Yes- “You did it and you get rewarded!” Marks when dog performs command/behavior correctly and will get a reward. Yes, is always followed with a reward. Most often used when first teaching a behavior. Yes=pay. -Good- verbal praise used for duration, “good job, you did as I asked but keep doing what you are doing.” Good=stay. This can help phase out treat rewards because they won’t get treats for every correct behavior. Helps reinforce the implied stay, “good sit”, “good down,” etc. You are saying this after every correct behavior if not marking with yes. -Uh-uh/nope- “That is not what I asked for.” Marks when dog does not perform command/behavior correctly or releases themselves before hearing release word. No reward or praise. We welcome clients who are eager to learn and committed to training their dogs, regardless of their preferred methods. We’re happy to explain our approach to address any misconceptions about e-collars, but ultimately, clients are free to choose what aligns with their goals.
