Lucas, thank you for your feedback. Our commitment to the community by offering these weekly, free socialization classes is unwavering. These classes have helped numerous dog and puppy owners have a safe, clean and suitable place for their pups to learn appropriate social behavior. These classes run on very important rules for both the dogs and their owners. With a combined 25 years’ experience between me and the other instructors, we have a very solid system down of knowing when and how to intervene with interactions between the pups. During our Small Dog and Puppy Socialization class, we introduce safe, older, larger and smaller dogs to the group. It is an important part of the socialization process to let the smaller dogs and puppies experience how to interact and socialize with dogs of all ages and sizes. As described in all our information, dogs have many ways of communicating with one another. Humping is part of that communication. While we do not ever allow humping, it doesn’t mean that from time to time a dog doesn’t try. And, during this class, my dog did attempt to hump your pup. Each time, the behavior was interrupted by myself or one of the other instructors. With all the pups, we are always actively advocating for their comfort and safety, if needed. That is one of the main rules of the socialization classes. As shown in the video below that was taken during the class, your pup and my pup had a great time playing, running the fence together and switching between who would chase the other. All of which is completely appropriate and healthy play. Our classes empower the pups to learn how to read the other dog’s body language, how to say “no” to other dogs and how to take “no” as an answer from the other dogs. It is extremely important that they learn these skills to be effective in their communication with one another. And, when one dog isn’t respecting or listening, we step in to interrupt, which was done each time the humping was attempted. We are extremely sorry you did not read the situation the same way. We also regret that you didn’t bring this up during or after the social so we could have addressed your concerns in real time, explained the behavior and communications between the dogs better to help you understand and feel more comfortable. This is the first and only time we have had anyone concerned with our focus and dedication to paying attention to, advocating for and helping these dogs have a great time. We are sorry that you felt you received less than expected and hope you find what you are looking for.
