North Boston Dog Training

I couldn't be more pleased with North Boston Dog Training! My 12 month old yellow Labrador Monty did the 2 week Stay and Train/off leash program with Rhonda Greenwood. As a therapist, I have been training him to be a therapy dog in my practice, and wanted more intensive/advanced training. He was also impossible to walk, constantly pulling me or anyone who walked him, making walking very stressful. I cannot say enough about the quality of training Rhonda provided for Monty! The training takes place in her home and not at a facility/kennel which was very important for me! After returning home, he now listens/responds to every command the 1st time, not just when he feels like it. His walking is impeccable. I can walk him on leash with one finger holding the leash. No tugging, pulling or running! The off leash option allows for fun hikes without worrying about him running off. This training was worth every penny!

I highly recommend Mike. I was pregnant and expecting a baby so I couldn't train Ralphie myself. After calling a bunch of different places I went with Mike because he was the most knowledgeable. Before sending him to Mike he was a complete nightmare to take on walks . I sent Ralphie my 1 year old German shepherd to Mike for two weeks , and he came back completely trained . He helped him lose some much needed weight too. Ralphie is now fit and has some nice definition. He doesn’t jump on people anymore . He is amazing off leash (which is specifically what I wanted) other dog trainers said there would be no way he could be trained for off leash . He doesn’t bark at other people off leash or dogs , and he completely ignores them. I had my baby and he is amazing with my son as well. Very protective and he doesn’t jump on him at all. I can not recommend Mike enough. He is truly the best dog trainer . Thank you so much Mike for all your help .

Mike Harrington trained Tilly, our 4 year old English BullDog, and me. We were having issues with aggressive behavior when she was frightened-- which was growing from passing cars on daily walks to the vacuum in the home, and it was all becoming unlivable and unsafe. Mike understands the dog's behavior and the point of view behind it-- and with that, can teach the owners to approach and manage the dynamics successfully. It takes a great deal of wisdom, experience, and patience-- all of which Mike has. With this, re-training, even of a dog who was not a puppy, was possible and done in no time at all. We have lots of reps to do on our own to get to maximum benefit, but that's the beauty of Mike's approach... he teaches the owner to do it right and you can then proceed independently, with the dog benefiting and responding to the now appropriately defined and managed situations. If you are even wondering if you need this kind of dog (human) training-- you do! Mike Harrington is the answer.

I brought my adorable, but ill-behaved, 16 month old dog Bear to Mike for Board and Train for 2 weeks. I was apprehensive at first about the idea of Board and Train--unsure whether this would be the best route for Bear. However, given that we had reinforced bad habits for a full year already, I felt he needed an immersive experience, that could then be reinforced back at home by us. From my first contact, Mike was responsive to phone calls, quickly assessing our needs, and scheduling the next available dates for this training. In 2 weeks Mike turned this rambunctious little guy into an almost-perfect gentleman! When I came to pick Bear up, Mike spent a significant amount of time with me, teaching me the strategies to reinforce the gains Bear had made. Since returning home, we have been doing our best to maintain consistency that is so necessary to keep the progress made and so far, so good! I highly recommend Mike and North Boston Dog Training and so appreciate what he has done to help us.
