Nan is certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), The CCPDT is the leader in the development of rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices. Nan is the best! Nice small class, excellent information shared in class & take home sheets, and amazing interaction with each dog. She is skilled at knowing the temperaments of different breeds and helps each owner work with their particular dog's characteristics. Nan always takes time to answer each owner's questions and offers several good examples for problem solving. It's obvious Nan loves her job from the thought and care she puts into her class. Our Sweet Pea Aussiedoodle loves her!

Nan was recommended by my dog's foster mom. I found her to be extremely professional and so wise about dogs. My dog, a rescue (and part Jack Russell) took to her immediately. Not only was she kind and knowledgable, she was an excellent role model for me and for my husband. After just a few sessions, we started to respond differently to our dog and he has calmed down considerably. I highly recommend Nan as a trainer. She has given us the confidence and skill to deal with our lovable but highly energetic dog. And she accomplished this with gentleness and positivity, not physical intimidation.

Thank you Ellen, I've enjoyed working with you all. I'm always happy to hear how well my training modalities work for people. As a professional dog trainer I choose to use the most current non-aversive methods for my clients. I feel it’s about bridging the gap between dog and owner and creating a training program unique for each clients particular needs. If I can’t teach my clients successfully to work on their own I would be doing them a great disservice. In an unregulated industry, like dog training, I feel it’s important to always seek continuing education. It’s also important to belong to and support high standard and ethical associations such as the Council for Certified Dog Trainers and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. I have qualified for and am sitting for the Certified Dog Trainers certification exam next week. Please let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything.

We stayed at one of Nan's cabins last year. I spoke to her about my concern that our golden retriever would not play with a toy. She was able to get him not only to play but to catch and retrieve. We call her the miracle worker at house. What a pleasure to meet her and work with her.

I’ve used Zen Dog Training since February. Nan is so patient and my puppy just loves her as do I. She’s thorough, patient, fun and remarkable in what is achieved in an hour. So glad I found Zen Dog Training.

Nan came to my home to work with me and my 6-month old rambunctious Labradoodle male puppy, DoodleBug. I walk with double wrist crutches, and walking the dog was very difficult. By the time the session was over, and with the aid of a terrific specialty harness, I was walking the dog, instead of the dog walking me! Nan tailored the session to my needs, and the dog responded enthusiastically to her handling. I was left with lots of tips and techniques and was very happy with Nan as a person and as an instructor. Highly recommended.
